Just got my scope in today (vortex razor HD genii) and was finally able to mount it on my new rifle (Sako TRG 22 6.5 CM). I still want to add a few more things to the set up. I'd like to add the sako muzzle brake and a bipod. I'm leaning towards the sako bipod, but I've heard a lot of good things about the LRA bipods. Any input either way? ( the harris bipod on there now is for my hunting rifle)

I cannot wait to take it to the range! Unfortunately because of my work schedule it's probably not happening for a couple of weeks. image1 (1).JPG

Very nice, you're in for some fun! As to the bipod, I run a LRA on my 338 and really like it, nice wide stance, not too heavy and it really stabilizes the rifle nicely. Handles the weight well of a heavy contour 32" Krieger too. They are expensive though but I occasionally see them in the PX for better than retail anyway. There are other choices as well but I'd certainly buy another one if I just had another rifle to put one on!

First bolt gun was a TRG22 and fell in love with the TRG bipod. Have an LRA today and it's the closest in feel to the TRG bipod vs a Harris or Atlas. It's also qay lighter and can be used on any other rifle with pic rail. I'd vote LRA over TRG bipod for those 2 reasons.

So far I bought a box of Hornady precision hunter 143 gr ELD-X and a box of Hornady match 140 gr ELD.

I also noticed cabelas carries HSM 6.5 creedmoor Berger ammo in 130 gr. I was going to buy a box, but I hear (and have experienced) mixed revoews about that specific ammo.

My plan is to eventually start reloading in the next few months. I know that reloading will give me the best accuracy but I just dumped a lot of money into this rifle so I have to take it slow on the reloading equipment.

Any suggestions for ammo would be appreciated.

6.5CM is one of those cartridges that is somewhat affordable to simply buy vs. reloading. Especially if you re-sell your fired brass. I did a cost analysis last year for a couple of guys at work who had bought 6.5CM's and were trying to figure out if they wanted to invest in reloading equipment. The individual costs of components are about 75% of loaded ammo but once you sell your once-fired brass they break even. And then on top of that you would have to buy all the reloading hardware which is probably an initial investment of $600-1000.

The initial investment is definitely what's keeping me from reloading at this point. I have had some great results with factory ammo in other rifles however.

I also own a Remington 700 Sendero Sfii that will get me about 0.5 MOA with Nosler ammo and about 1/3-1/2 MOA with HSM Berger ammo (most of the time). That same HSM ammo out of my 308 groups horribly (around 1.5 MOA). If I can get the same results with factory ammo out of my new rifle as I do out of my Remington it may be hard to justify the initial investment right now.

Although my remington is a great rifle, I feel that it is one of the best off the shelf production rifles out there, I know the sako is on another level of over all quality and performance. So I'm hoping that the performance of the Sako with factory ammo reflects that when compared to my Remington.
