Annie 1416 HB vs. 64 MPR

I have decided that I want to step up to an Annie when I sell my FVSR. The Savage shoots well but not well enough and I don't want to spend anymore time and money on bedding and such.

I had planned on getting a 64 MPR instead of the 1416 for the simple reason that I wanted a 2 stage trigger. However, a friend just sent me a text and told me about a local place that has 1416's on sale, and on their website it says they are a special run with 2 stage triggers. The difference in price is fairly substantial. I looked up the specs and the 1416 HB's barrel is slightly shorter and slightly thinner than the 64 MPR.

Does anyone have experience with both rifles? I know the 64 MPR's generally shoot very well. Basically I just want a consistent MOA or less rifle. Also, is the barrel easily removable on either of these rifles? I would like to get it threaded.

The biggest advantage with the MPR will be the higher comb on the stock for scoped shooting, particularly if you're going to run larger objectives or utilize a canted base. I have a 1517 and a 1710, both with a 1416 style stock and DIP bases/SWFA SS 3-15x44 scopes, and getting in a good position does require modifications or a stock pack. If you are fine doing that, then I say take the deal with the 2-stage 1416.

Thanks for the info. I didn't plan on running a canted base but then again I'm not sure how much elevation I will have on the scope. I'm thinking hard about getting the SWFA SS 10x fixed model. The price is fairly reasonable and I already have the SS 3-9x42 on my SAM-R'ish rifle. As long as I can get to 300yd with the elevation maxed out + holdover on the reticle, I'll be happy.
