Another stupid question. I got 2 harris bipod several years ago. My go to is the Harris model S 6-9. I finally broke down and bought a locking lever for the swivel function but now I am noticing after a string of 4 or 5 rounds, the screw that tensions the mount to the sling swivel comes loose. I don't know if that screw is getting worn, needs loctite or if its something else. .

I had the same issue too. My solution was buy a different bipod... frustrating.

I think you could add some blue loctite just to make it gummy and less prone to back off. I never did try it. You could also get a bolt with the nylon insert that keeps it from backing off. Can't remember what that is called....

See if the tensioning screw is bottoming out on its travel. If it's even close, put some sort of shim/spacer between the bipod swivel stud.

The best way by far is to replace the swivel stud mount with an RRS HC-Pro ARCA/pic rail adapter. Expensive, yes ($90). But, with a Pod-Loc and the RRS adapter, that Harris becomes almost as stable as an Atlas (footprint isn't as wide for the same height) for $100 less. Of course, a pic or ARCA rail is necessary on your rifles.

I have both (Harris upgraded as described and Atlas CAL with the same RRS adapter). Both are very solid. There are use cases for both.

By the time you spend the money to get a Harris where it needs to be, you would have been better off just putting up the money initially and buying an Atlas. A lot of it is personal preference though. Some guys swear by the Harris bipods.
