Ok, I’ve got a 700, I recently rebarreled to 6.5 Creed. I’ve been running Magpul mags, they have been smooth and I have no complaints whatsoever.. However, I would like to try running my Accurate mags and get them tuned right.. The problem is I don’t know how, and I don’t wanna screw them up..They feed fine until about the fourth or fifth round from empty, and then they nose down under my stinkin ass feed-ramp that’s already notched..Is this a spring/follower issue?? Sand, file, tweak the feed-lips?? The mag has no binder-plate and I’m running 130 Berger factory ammo in the bitch.. I see a lot of fucky mag issues at matches, and I don’t want to be experiencing that.. The deal is, that in order to look cool, (at the match) I just installed a 419 extension on this mag and I want to be able to butter rounds through it..If y’all could help me out, and tell me what to do, I would be stoked.. here’s some pics

I don’t know, it looks just like any other notched feed-ramps I’ve seen.. I could take some pics after work..The first half of the mag feeds fine, but the last half starts nosing down just like in the pics

Full mag has a lot of tension on the spring holding the bullets. As you take away bullets the tension gets lighter the bullets shift forward from recoil.

Different mags can feed from a varying position left or right of center. If your notch is narrow and it feeds wider you can get hung up left and right of your notch you may need to widen the notch.

That actually makes a lot of sense! I appreciate it!

Following. Ive got a Tikka doing this exact thing, rds 10 thru 4th feed flawlessly, next one acts like a dying submarine, all the rest are fine again. Ive become so used to reaching up and fondling the ass of that particular round that i dont even think about it anymore. And that irritates me.. Accurate non-binder plate mag, 6.5 Creed 130 Berger match ammo, Seekins +2. It does it with any ammo.

I have not watched the videos above yet, thanks btw, but here’s a pic of feed-ramp from the underside, and some Magpul/Accurate comparisons.. Notching the feed ramp wider still isn’t fixing the mag problem if you follow what I’m saying.. I do know that Magpul springs and Accurate springs are two different designed springs- has anybody stretched or tweaked Accurate springs so no matter how many is in the mag it keeps them rammed up tight, an centered goin in the chamber?? Mine start nosing downward just like KabarNC has stated..

I’d pull the mags apart...check the followers make sure no burrs or ruff spots on sides all the way around if there is clean them up with some 1500-2000 grit.

Check the front(bullet side)of mag make sure there’s no burrs.

Clean the mags with brake clean.

Stretch the springs a little at a time and test with dummy rounds...10 not just a couple....DO NOT USE LIVE AMMO!!!

One of the pics looks like the round is hung up low in the mag the above should fix that.

One pic looks like it’s hung up on the bottom of the receiver if it’s doing that then like has been suggested need to open up the cut.

First pic is Accurate mag no binder, second pic is the Magpul mag... I’m probably making this a little dramatic, but I’m willing to be the guinea pig for all the other rookies.. Now, who here has made their own binder plates, and how??

Just notch the feed ramp wider and deeper so the magazine without the binder plate feeds reliably. I have Accurate mags with and without binder plates in my M700's and they feed flawlessly after some careful work with a dremel and sanding drums.

Thanks for your help all, I got this baby fixed!!! I didn’t want to open the feed ramp up more just to run a non-binder plate Accurate.. I don’t even remember where this mag came from and why I had one with no binder to begin with, because I shoot factory ammo.. Anyway, I built my own binder plate, glued, cleaned, polished, sanded, and opened up the front of the feed lips slightly, and this thing runs 14 rds through it like butter.. The problem was glaringly right before my eyes but I didn’t see it till I got serious, and help from some of y’all of course???? Thanks I’m pumped
