Just recieved my rifle back from Chad Dixon of Long Rifles Inc and would like to post a public "thanks" to him for his speedy work.

Just a little run down on what I had done:

Rem 700 SS Long Action .300 Win Mag - full true and blueprint, bolt fluted and oversixed bolt handle installed, precision ground recoil lug pinned and installed, and chamber / fit and finish Krieger "Sendero" contour barrel. To say that I am excited to start the load development on this bad boy is a gross understatement!

Chad was a pleasure to work with on my "long range hunting project" and was eager to answer my questions and help out. On top of all of that, he finished up the whole project waaaay ahead of schedule and the machine work is flawless.

Anywho, just wanted to post this up in case anyone was looking for a good smith to do some work for em. There are plenty of great smiths out there but the personal touch that Chad adds to each project sets his work apart, not to mention that the man knows his shit when it comes to building a good rifle.

As soon as I get a chance I will post up some pics.

Cheers!!!!

He might be the best smith on this planet but his customer service flat out sucks. Can honestly say he is a huge disapointment in my book.

Bolt Fluting Group Buy: Almost 600 bolts. (570-something now)

5 people were unhappy.

Bolt Knob Group Buy: Almost 200 bolts. (170-ish I think)

4 people unhappy.

I wish those numbers were zero, I really do. However in the grand scheme of things from a statistical standpoint I think we did pretty darn good.

I'm very sorry the relationship between us went south. Emails/PM's/phone calls have been a serious defalcation that is just now being resolved. The volume of work has been daunting. Not an excuse. Just offered as an explanation. It's been resolved, I've hired one of the best out there and he too is qualified to deliver work to the standards this shop demonstrates in plain site for everyone to see every day on this forum.

We'll continue to deliver to the standard we've established and live by delivery dates. Will we get them all? It's not realistic for me to say we will. Everyone does receive our best effort though. Not much more I can offer at this time.

Chad.

I'm not complaining. I'm sure the wait time will be worth it. I know the move and GB's have caused some delays.
But when someone post about a "speedy job" I get a chuckle out of it.
I'm sure things will settle down and you will get a production flow going now that you have some help.
Dealing with the day to day stuff takes a lot of time and in a one man shop sometimes that can take big part of the day.

I sent my rifle to you for a quality job and because of the reputation you have with other silhouette shooters. I'm sure if some of the folks that call every few days would stop, you could probably get a few more rifles done each week.

I was one of the guys who had an issue during the bolt fluting group buy. The issue was not with the work. The post office lost my bolt on it's return trip too me. We waited a couple weeks to see if it would be found. Chad replaced the bolt for me and overnighted it too me so I could make a match I was scheduled to attend. He did this on his own dime as this happened before insurance was added to return shippments.
I am happy Chad cared enough to take care of me and make things right. I am more than satisfied and plan on having my next rifle built in his shop.

Re: Another good job done by Mr. Chad Dixon!!!!

Two thumbs up for Chad!!! Cant wait to see my stick!!! The bolts were BADAZZ!!! If a person wants cheap fast and easy.... Go to Vegas!!! Quality and precision is definitely worth the wait!!!

Re: Another good job done by Mr. Chad Dixon!!!!

I pm'd Chad about a build and he called me to work out the details.I will be sending my parts for him to build my rifle, without a doubt.

Re: Another good job done by Mr. Chad Dixon!!!!

E-mailed through the web page a while back with questions about a build I wanted to do. Went with e-mail instead of calling because I know what kind of hours gunsmiths put in and figured questions could be answered at their leisure. Also, Chad's sig line SAYS to e-mail... Never got a reply so after a month or so I just went back to my regular smith for the build. Couldn't be happier with his CS - don't know why I was thinking of straying...

No, I emailed like it specifically said to do in your sig line until today. How could I be certain you received an email from me? I sent it through your web site contact form, so if you don't get those, you'd probably better talk to your IT person. I saw your work on this site and thought I'd see what your prices and lead times were like when I was in the planning stages of my current LR "any" rifle build. Not hearing anything back from you made it easy to just stick with my regular smith.

Thats a lousy excuse to publically shit on someone's CS. I never understand why people have no problem waiting a month to hear back on an email and complaining about it when it takes 2 seconds to pick up a phone and make sure maybe something didnt get lost in the ether.

I'll tell you a little story. 8 years ago, I needed the siding and roof replaced on my house. I called 5 contractors to come out and give me bids on the work. 4 of the 5 got back to me the next week with quotes while the 5th completely disappeared and never got back to me at all. Can you guess which contractor I didn't hire?

Same story here. I wasn't waiting for a month to hear back from Mr. Dixon. My life went on and the world kept turning. This was the planning stage of the build I spoke to several other gunsmiths via phone and e-mail during this time to decide who I wanted to build the rifle. Hearing no response from Longrifles, Inc eliminated them from contention. There are a lot of good rifle builders out there to choose from.

If a business wants people to call, don't specify "Email with questions, etc" on every post you make about the business. I have no problem making phone calls.

Re: Another good job done by Mr. Chad Dixon!!!!

He also has his # in that same signature. I understand what you're saying, but just calling him real quick wouldn't be difficult either. I personally prefer to e-mail, as it allows the 'smith to get back with me whenever they wish. However sometimes things are forgotten or any number of other things may happen too. A simple call usually does the trick...

Re: Another good job done by Mr. Chad Dixon!!!!

The couple of little jobs he's done for me have been first rate. When I get ready for a build he's the man... I dealt with the public for 40 years and know that every customer won't be happy, even with a ridiculous and uneconomical effort you might get 95%. Sometimes it just doesn't work out, through no one's fault. Best to Chad and Longrifles.
