That's the little problem with releasing a bioweapon based on viruses that you have carefully helped to evolve.
They tend to want to fulfill their mission of taking over the world no matter how much you want to stop them.
Becoming less severe in effect but much more effective at spreading is kind of a natural thing. Look at how the "common colds" essentially conquered the world by doing that.
Chances are that humanity might just have to evolve to live alongside this Covid business for the long haul and eventually our bodies will mostly tolerate it without significant harm except in edge cases.

I firmly believe another lockdown is coming within a couple of months due to this Delta variant. If the Delta variant is real or more media hype I'm not as sure of. The normal flu season is right around the corner and no doubt it will be hyped up so you can funnel money to big pharma and give more control to the politicians.

Simple thing would have been for our "leadership" in this country, the former Constitutional Republic that is, to stop doing business with china. However, as you pointed out, the effects are less as the virus becomes less "deadly." Case in point is how Ebola, which previously had a death rate of 98-100% is now around 80% (if memory serves me). But, it's now much more likely to spread because victims don't die within a short time frame giving the virus time (especially as Africa gets better transportation) to spread.
Almost 100% of deaths from Covid at this point, are unvaccinated people. That's just a fact. You can interpret the anti-vax movement as either (a) standing your ground against medical tyranny and government over-reach ... or ... (b) culling the herd of the less intelligent of the species. As for me ... I got vaccinated the second I was able, and my life and that of my vaccinated family and friends is returning to normal.

For most of us, we have been living our lives just fine without fear. Our lives were as normal as possible baring whatever stupidity the government forced on us with the help of the Tip Touchers.
In another group we were talking about one guy who was a friend of someone in the group and was all into vaccines and got the vaccines back in April.
Got sick with Covid in July and had a very quick progression to the hospital then to being dead.
Big Pharma is counting on people needing ever more expensive "booster" vaccines regularly, so I don't think you'll be able to just say I got a vaccine and now I'm good... they will want you to get it every year at least.
Remember, that the official government stance is they will no longer count/report covid cases among vaccinated people unless it results in hospitalization...
The large number of severe adverse reactions to the vaccine including way more deaths than would ever be tolerated for any other medicine or vaccine are being purposely suppressed by the media, big tech and the government and doctors are being pressured not to link know side effects to the vaccine or risk getting kicked out of their profession.
If you had the covid and recovered, you are unlikely to need the vaccine at all.
It should be a free choice, but eventually the government at the behest of big pharma will demand it be made mandatory and deaths / side effects are just something the public will have to risk out of their own individual pockets and lives because it would be wrong to deny big pharma their natural right to have all the money...

I expect another round of lockdown attempts in various states. And they won't be without support. My perception is that a decent percent of populations in areas are begging for more lockdown tyranny. (b) = Unintelligent and irrational protest against vaccination based upon invalid beliefs or reasoning
My point was that the decision "not" to vaccinate is most likely the result of one of those two personal situations (or some mix of the two) ... in a world where vaccination has been factually and statistically determined to either avoid illness altogether (at best), or (at (worst) resulted in lighter and survivable symptoms in the vast majority of vaccinated people.

I have two people like this in my area as well. I think they mistook me for a good conservative they could be friends with because I think the people in Rusty's group B are complete morons. His wife, who is an RN that works at one of the hospitals, told him lots of people at the nursing homes in the area who have been vaccinated are getting sick and dying. They both had the Rona last summer, the only symptom he presented with was loss of smell and it came back in a couple days. His wife had mild flu like symptoms. They have known since before day one, once again. Or at least should have strongly suspected. Since they knew a vaccine for Sars COVID1 was too dangerous, because of the risk of vaccinated peoples reaction to a variant. That a vaccine would put people at higher risk form COVID, not lower. You can't vaccinate it away, you will only make it evolve. Now your immune system is primed to overreact to a variant.

At least here in the USA, the Vaccines for covid or whatever one refers to them as, are widely available to anyone that wants them and the uptake is around 40%, probably going to top out in the 50% range or so.
In addition probably at least 10% of the population is confirmed to have had covid and survived and probably at least another 10% had it, but had very mild symptoms. So one way or another it seems we are getting a pretty good handle on it and even if it's still around at a low level, it's very manageable from a healthcare standpoint.
Other places like Australia are not quite so lucky, where they had a stick your head in the sand and let's all hide in our houses and not let anyone in, approach along with, vaccines... well maybe we'll buy some eventually. Except they keep letting folks in the country that then spread it just enough to make whole cities miserable (like Sydney when they got 50 to 100 cases last week from a flight crew, they freaked out), and people still can't get the vaccines they want and almost nobody has immunity, so there appears to be no end in sight for the misery.

However what will have good effects long term, is the change in attitude towards public hygiene in general.

Also in public most things like bathrooms have gone "Contact free" where you can open the door with your foot and all the flushing / turning on the taps and such is all automatic.
People also now are a bit more conscious about washing their hands, changing their clothes and shoes after being in crowds and many other such things that those of us who lived in countries where disease was rampant learned as second nature to protect ourselves, are now becoming widespread.
Things like employers now not being able to ask sick people to come in to work and people that wake up feeling ill or feverish are able to call in sick without fear of reprisals are a huge help. People are no longer stigmatized for wanting to stay home and away from others if they feel sick, it's no longer "just tough it out" but considered "responsible" to rest and isolate till you feel better, again stuff that used to be common sense for those of us who lived around disease.
Long term the change in habits may actually make the yearly cold and flu season less difficult for many.
People in western society forgot all about the steps to take in order to stay healthy amid disease because they thought modern medicine made them invincible to everything, now they are realizing that perhaps nature should be respected a bit more and simple basic precautions taken.
