Another new guy from Charlotte

Hey guys,

Another new guy from outside of Charlotte, NC. I've been reading up a ton and I'm ready to drop some coin on a long range rig. I'll be shooting at either Clinton, Hawks Ridge or Frontline depending on membership approval. No plans to compete or anything like that.

I plan to make the use of the exchange as much as possible. I'm thinking something along the lines of:

Mack Bros SS Evo with Remage Setup. (James at NSS just confirmed he'd mod the counterbore on the criterion prefits he offers)
Criterion 6.5 creedmoor barrel threaded in MTU
Either AICS 1.5 or KRG X-ray gen 4 (AICS on the exchange)
TBAC Break (already use this with my ultra 7 on other rifles)
Trigger Tech Primary
Tract Toric 4-20 or Steiner P4xi 4-16 depending on what comes up on the exchange.

Looking forward to unlearning, learning the right way and hopefully even contributing one day.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys. I just sold my land and moved to the 'burbs a few months ago... so I'm going to be joining either Clinton or Frontline in the next month or two. Clinton's closer and looks awfully nice, but I've been told the 1000 yard range is cut as a narrow path through thick woodland. I don't really feel like driving an extra hour to Frontline, but I think the more open landscape of Frontline might make for better wind reading skills in the long run.

Any thoughts?

Welcome to the hide from another tarheel. Before you drive all the way to S.C. to join a range, check out Coleman's Creek training center in Ellerbe, N.C. It's just outside Rockingham, have ranges out to 1 mile. I admit I am biased as I'm a member there. Great range, great people.

I'm north of Wingate, in Union county. About 1/2 hour e/se of Charlotte.

There's a few guys on here that are members at CCTC. I went there for a tour and fell in love with the place. had a membership before I left. The owners have some big plans for the next few years.
I'm hoping to head down there next Friday, got some load work for a 224 valkyrie to do. Maybe we'll cross paths sometime.

Gas. I usually hang out at the 100 yd flat range, with an old chrony set up (yeah, I've not stepped up to a lab radar yet), and a pile of ammo boxes. They're supposed to be building some 300 yd load development ranges, which is where I'll probably be once they're done.
