I know I know, another which rangefinder should I get topic...

I have been shooting at distance for a couple years now and have a bushnell elite 1600 w/ arc from 2010 I believe.

I am looking for something better and near that price range, I paid 400$ for it back then.

Now I am looking for something that actually gets close to the 1000yd distances... The elite 1600 does not.
I have seen 770 as the max if I remember correctly and have had to use closer targets to range and then guess distances beyond that to dial.
It doesnt range a set of car bodies at 850yds broadside to me on a overcast day.

___

Now I dont want to spend more then 650$ really. That is my cap.

I know for just 150$ more I can get the swaro but if I can range 90% of what the swaro can at 1000yds then that extra 150$ wasnt worth much.

I am looking for something that is capable and can EASILY do 1000yds consistently. My elite can't do that with 700yds.

Please help, I've seen the newcons mentioned on here and believe me i am gunshy but not turned away...

Re: Another Rangefinder topic

There was a used Swaro laser guide going for $690 in the classifieds. For what you are after i would recommend forking out the extra $50 or so more and pick one up used. There have been several for sale for about $700 lately.

What is it that you are ranging? Steel targets or non reflective fury critters?

I have a Zeiss PRF that has ranged reflective targets out to just over 1400 yds all day long. Other items like a shingled roof over 900 and lab sized dogs and deer just over 500. I'm positive I could range critters further, just haven't had the opportunity to do so yet.

Cameraland NY usually has demo units or even new for under your price cap. Call Doug or Neil and tell them you are a "Hide member" and see what they can do for you.

Re: Another Rangefinder topic

My main goal is to be able to do both actually, furry critters (deer/yotes) at 1000yds as my effective range.

I am also setting up a backyard 1000yd range with steel plates so itll also be for practice and fun.

I just need something that is consistent enough to be able to hit atleast trees or a rock or a fairly steep hillside at a grand.

If I can find a swaro at 700$ id do it no doubt. Quality is best.

But im young yet, money is tight after graduating college etc.

Well, bought a glock for conceal carry... the oilfields are starting to lure a shit ton of trash up here and women are being targetted. I aint losing my girl.

So my money is off the table and spent now but I'll keep an eye out for the sale ads.

Thanks all.
