Bought a brand new Anschutz 1761 .22 wmr with two stage light trigger. I needed a 22 trainer for windy days. Usually shooting prone from 100 to 300 yards. Went to the range and I was very disappointed with the stock ergonomics and trigger shoe blade. Bought a piece of American black walnut on Craigslist and the journey began. Stock design is a hybrid of Anschutz 1907 and Sako p94s range. If I go again this way, I would make it thumb hole. After some serious work from my side, this is what came out. Now I really come back from the range with a smile.

That looks really great, well done for going through the effort to make that work. Getting comfortable behind the rifle with as little strain on any part of the body makes a big difference. I have the MPR version of the 1761 in .22LR. It's a fantastic rifle. Since I got mine, 2 others in the club also bought the same because they were impressed with mine.

They are very accurate! I’ll buy .22 lr heavy barrel and the package will be complete.

That looks great. There are more stock options coming shortly for the 1761.

Any more breadcrumbs you could throw us? Did you get this from a reliable source?

I know XLR did a prototype aluminium stock for the 1761 but when I asked them about it they said they wouldn't be available until the 10 round magazines were out. Then I asked Anschutz in Germany about the 10 round magazines and they said had no plans for them at that time.

Reliable source, yes. 10rd mags are being tested right now. I haven’t spoken with XLR but have with other stateside stock/chassis makers.
Probably another month of testing 10rd mags and the first shipment should be here early fall.

30 conservative shots.
Anschutz 1761, 22 wmr
100 yards distance
CCI 40gr JHP, V=622 m/s (2041 FPS), BC=0.114 (G1)
Prone position, bipod and rear sand bag
Not very good, but not too bad also. Mosquitoes 🦟 were biting heavy. Didn’t take enough focus and time for best shots execution. Rate of fire, probably 3 shots per minute.
Longer and heavier barrel will definitely improve the balance of the rifle. Unfortunately Anschutz don’t offer it.
