Re: Any .50 Beowulf Owners?

I have shot a friend's .50 Beowulf upper that was mounted on a Colt Sporter lower, and we noticed that, after a about 1500 rounds, the hole in the Colt receiver that the retention pin passes through had started to elongate, presumably from the increased recoil energy. The owner had a gunsmith enlarge the hole and put in a larger-diameter pin, and the problem has not been seen since. Other than that, the conversion works flawlessly on his rifle.

Re: Any .50 Beowulf Owners?

Buddy of mine waited 3 months for his to come in and then another 6 for ammo, I dont think its going anywhere if they don't lift up on who manufactures the ammo. This of course is all info from about last year, donno if they have yet or not, but its a damn same on the price and availability.

Re: Any .50 Beowulf Owners?

Yea ,Ammo is the weak point.Starline makes brass now after alot of pressure from owners of this caliber got Bill Alexander to allow them to.Seem to be a handload only round but so are alot of others.Never had any problems with the lowers getting loose but never put one on a Colt lower I thought the small pin large pin thing made them non compatable.

Why do you say that?

Re: Any .50 Beowulf Owners?

Rtgfi,
Try dealing with Alexander Arms and I'm sure you will find.
1 High prices
2 Long waits for everything.
3 NO quality control(shitty assambly)
4 They do not test fire new OR repaired weapons
5 Their factory ammo sucks ass.
6 Bill Alexander refuses to have his calibers sammi tested
7 They lie about military contracts to be tacticool
8 Calling the customer service is a complete waste of time
9 The only thing holding up the manufacture of 50 beowulf brass is Bill A. being too broke to pay his bills with starline.
10 Bill A. is a designer but will never be a manufacture he just plays one on future weapons.

When there is only 1 manufacturer this is the case. It's called simple economics.

I ordered a 6.5 Grendel upper with an upgraded barrel and had the product 7 days from the time I hit the submit button. Another poster in a Grendel thread noted that they currently have no back log.

I have found this to be utterly false

If they don't, they probably should.

Bullshit. Their 6.5 ammo uses the finest projectiles and brass available.

Last I read, it is in the pipeline.

Where do you get this shit from?

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">8 Calling the customer service is a complete waste of time</div></div>
I've called multiple times and ALWAYS had someone answer the phone. No messages. No bullshit.

Again, where do you get this shit? You can get brass NOW at https://www.alexanderarms.com/item/9/36/50BeowulfBrass100pieces.htm and http://www.impactguns.com/store/AL-M-BEOBRASS.html and likely various other places.

Re: Any .50 Beowulf Owners?

Ordered on of the very first Wulf's and 200 rounds of brass direct from AA and had it in 10 days. Bullets from Hawk and good to go.

Re: Any .50 Beowulf Owners?

My old man purchased the AA 50 Beuwulf years ago because he was bored. It has turned into one of our favorite guns to let new shooters shot because it is soo much fun to blast water bottles and melons. He has purchased brass and loaded ammo from AA.com before and never complained about the wait. Once it was back-ordered a couple of months but I am pretty sure that was in the post election freak out. Heck, I have purchased two boxes of ammo from Cabelas in Glendale AZ on separate occasions.

It is a novelty caliber and with that comes wait times and high prices sometimes I guess. I am pretty active on the gun interwebs and haven't seen anyone complaining about Bill Alexander before, I would like to know where some of those rumors came from and if they are true or not.

I bet you had a grand time pulling that moose of that incline . . .

Re: Any .50 Beowulf Owners?

I have owned my Beowulf for about a year now. I never dealt directly with Alexander Arms. I bought an accesorized Wulf from Umlaut Arms located in NH. I have purchased some factory loaded ammo from Umlaut when available just to build up by brass supply. I get once fired brass off of Gunbroker. I also got some virgin Starline brass. I bought dies from CH4D. I mostly roll my own ammo these days. The rifle is so much fun and always gets lots of attention at the range. I did have an issue with the Alexander Arms muzzle brake coming off the barrel but this was resolved quickly by Umlaut Arms and replaced with a Kings Armory brake (much better).

A couple of months ago I hunted hogs with the Wulf and bagged two pigs.

Don't give up on this rifle. It is a fantastic weapon for it's intended purpose. Brass is more available with Starline now involved. If you buy factory ammo, it is also somewhat more available with more machinery dedicated to it's production.

Once you stockpile some ammo and or components life is all good!

Re: Any .50 Beowulf Owners?

Go to 50beowulf.com and look up posts from about 1 year ago and back and you will find all these things I said and more 12 month back orders, no brass ,new weapons that don't work, sub standard beowulf ammo being replaced(case at a time after a long wait), emails from starline stating they would make as much brass as A.A. could pay for.(while it was back ordered everywhere) Bill A. admiting he does not test fire new or repaired weapons.Yes the Grendel ammo never had a problem because A.A. subs that out.I have a Beowulf that works great have had it for about 5 years.AFTER having it sorted out by a gunsmith.Maybe now that a group of us brought this to light and Bill A. finally let Starline sell direct(he held the rights to the Wulf)Brass my be easy to get. As far as the military contract causing shortages that was debunked also. Like I said great idea crap company.

1/2" projectile shooting sub MOA, and that was factory ammo by the way. Also, I have chrono'd some factory ammo, Standard Deviation was single digits (4.9fps to be exact). I wish my reloads were as consistent as that factory ammo......A.A. barrel. this is my second wulf build....Brother "Borrowed" the first one a couple years back. been shooting the wulf for about 8 years now.

OK Scot, we get it, you like the wulf, but are going to spend your last breath bashing Alex Arms.

1 to 2 years ago the Obama bubble had everything out of wack on prices and supplies. so you can not look at that as the norm.
