Sorry to shout in the subject line but specifically asking if any known group is using a carbine version of the SR25/M110/AR-10 in either Afghanistan or Iraq? Or have they been used at all?

Not asking about 5.56 SPR/DMR whatever or the re-issued M14s. It seems like I heard mention of somebody "Special" using carbines in .308/7.62. Thanks in advance for either confirming or denying.

In A word NO! There are variants of the 5.56 fielded in units that are packing 2 uppers, one carbine and one sass upper. This configuration has done very well and it's just a matter of time before units can logistically afford to do so. trials have already been done yet I no not of the results.

Jpach: You had better get in line. Many gallons of drool have spilled over that there boom stick. Maybe a black op is in the future. Any takers?http://cdn.snipershide.com/snipershide.com/forum/images/icons/default/wink.gif

C'mon, it's only 4500$ on sale hahaha. Personally I think the LMT carbine is the way to go for something like that - if money is no object then yeah KAC but LMT makes a fine weapon too. I got to handle one the other day and it was impressive although a little heavy.

The LMT is definitely the way to go. I have one and I shot it for the second time this past weekend. Banging steel at 600 was no problem. Same with not so big rocks at 700. Thats as far as my range goes though, so Ill have to go to another one with more distance.

The SCAR Heavy is a 308/ NATO 7.62 and being used by certain special-ops.

There is another variant of the scar for 5.56 and 7.62x39.

Haven't heard of SCAR being used with 7.62x39, FN made it for battle pickups.

I'm sure it an awesome weapon, but it's a bit pricey even
on sale and hard for me to tell if it's worth the extra $$.

IIRC firms cannot sell to the public for less than the military contract price. Give it a few years, when the AR10 spec is finalized and the really large orders start to be placed by DoD. KAC will have to contract out production to meet the contract. Same situation as an aircraft contract.

In the 80s, the replacement cost of an M16 was $165, about 1/3 of the street price of an AR15 at that time.

Seen them training with them for urban combat situations.
