I just moved here to go to Nashville Auto Diesel College from Missouri and home there is free ranges the the conservation department has but I've not found anything like that here yet. Any help would be greatly appreciated. The only range I've found so far said there was a waiting list to even shoot and it was over 2hrs of a wait.

Unfortunately there aren't a lot of good options for rifle fire. There is a public range on Hobson pike that does allow rifle fire: TN STONE RIVER RANGE,
2618 HOBSON PIKE, ANTIOCH, TN 37013.

If you're wanting to shoot handguns, there is a indoor handgun only range in the northwestern end of the county call the Academy of Self Protection. I've used their range a few times and had good experiences. There is also an indoor range about 20-30 mins outside Nashville in Greenbrier called Guns and Leather. They also have a pistol only range. It's a nice range that I've used pretty frequently. Let me know if I can be of further help. I live in Nashville.

There are pay ranges out there run by TWRA. For free shooting your best bet is to make friends with someone who has a farm. When you find someone PM me. I'm working a guy to shoot his land (<700 yards). Not sure if that will pan out.
