Any good tactical pants for summer?

Thought about shorts, but wasn't sure about how bad the sun would be when shooting, so probably get a long pants.

Any recommended pants for summer, especially those hot days? Better was some sort of ventilation kind of feature, like holes or web kind of thing, so it won't feel like in an oven when need to shoot prone under the sun.

Have a Blackhawk extreme pursuit pant for non summer season, works pretty well, like those pockets, but for summer it is kind of hot.

Budget wise, would $80-100 sounds tight?

UF Pro. @Terry Cross turned me onto them. Probably one of the best tactical pants being made today (I like them more than the Crye pants). Vented specifically for the heat. Ordered from Slovenia, and on my doorstep 3 days later for $15 shipping (how can you beat that?). Don't go by the price listed, as it includes Euro Value Added Tax (VAT), which is deducted when shipping is calculated. Not cheap, but no where near as stupid a price as the Cyre's are going for these days...

I dunno 'bout other folks but the Crye pants are like parachute pants on me. I guess I don't have 30in quads and hams to fill em out (yet). Because of all the extra fabric they don't get too steamy for me. I can take em out in sunny Texas and not look like I completely pissed and shat my pants by the end of the day.

Really the ripstop wrangler khakis at Walmart are cheap and comfortable. Not hot in the summer.

Shooting and shorts dont mix.

Rolling on to a hot 30-06 case will in fractions of a second give you a three inch burn to last a few weeks.

still have the shadow of a scar to remind me.

Id wear snow pants before shorts to shoot in summer.

Weird thing is that I note when first donning with knee pads in the pads act like "Hot Hands" chemical warmers. Pads reflect body heat back on you.

If you're of a lean build, and on a bit of a budget, the Vertx tactical pants have served me well. Not as comfortable or rugged as the UF Pros, but they have done well in an office/light field use environment. I'd post a link, but their website (which is new, since they changed website name) is acting all nar nar and shit....

I do the exact same thing, they are fairly inexpensive dry fast if I get in the water or rained on and the legs can be removed to have a pair of shorts.

If your looking for venting and less tactical look. I really also like the KUIU Attack hunting pants. They are medium light, fully vented and stretchy.. good for those 100 degree days.

The grey area along the hip are a zipper vent.

I recently picked up a pair of Kuhl Revolvr pants ahead of two trips to the DR and Nicaragua and I was very impressed with them. Nice and light in those hot-as-hell places, almost as comfortable as shorts. Kuhl makes very good quality items and I’ve also enjoyed my Rydr pants but those are much heavier than the Revolvr and not suitable for hot weather.

I've been using the vertx pants for a while and work great in the cooler months, but here in eastern NC, it gets hotter than devil piss with the humidity and these pants give me shhweaty balls like hell. I need knee pads for where I shoot bc there is a lot of positional on crushed concrete and sharp rocks. I like the UF Pros but I'm trying to stay away from $180 + pants as long as I can. I too wish someone would make a lighter material khaki pant with knee pads.

I 2nd Zions. I’ve had mine since 2016, and they have endured backpacking trips, hiking, rock climbing, shooting matches, pouring rain, daily use, and they don’t have a single hole or tear.

I paid $80 for mine at REI and they have been more than worth it.

Interesting. I'm loading ammo right now, sitting in a pair of 30x34 5.11 pants. I'm a lean guy (5'"11, 155) and I've found 5.11 to fit well, to snug. If the "chinos" were much tighter they'd be like a second skin. Available in 28" waist and 36" inseam, they're available for tall and "fit" guys. Either way, the pants that fit my rather fit physique don't need to fit yours. But, if you've found you don't have enough ass to fill out your pants, stop looking at it in the mirror and/or do more squats... ?

Seriously, I'd suggest breaking out a measuring tape and verifying how "lean" you actually are. 5.11'a are way oversized (kind of what like what they do for women, mark them "34's" when in actuality they're closer to a 35-36. This is across their line of products, and after literally trying on every "32x36" they had (which were actually closer to 34x34 1/2). Their sizing also varies quite a bit. There's a 5.11 store here near Camp Pendleton, so I can say this is from first hand experience. Ecto-mesomorph body types don't fit in 5.11's very well... But hey, if you can rock them, go on with your bad self.

The pants I wear for yard work are an old set of Abercrombie and Fitch OD utilities. They are like a heavier weight VN style jungle pant - all cotton - kind of like cold weather overpants circa 1980.

The left leg has a rip in it about 8 inches long cutting the left cargo pocket totally in half.

Its from me using my MS440 cutting 1/2 inch saplings in the back yard.

Gots to be careful when you one hand the saw out of your way to grab a cut tree with the other. Its not like reholstering a pistol...that chain keeps moving a little after the trigger is let go.

I must of avoided flesh by literally an atoms width. There was just the slightest hint of not even a cut but like an abrasion burn on the top center of my thigh.

God I love that saw but I am a potential invalid every time I use it.

Way too big for the work I typically use it for - a beast.

I substitute horse power and caliber to compensate for my small junk.........

Agree 100% Bought these to wear downunder, they're not available locally and i had to buy via Germany, but the quality is next level compared to anything else I've worn and they're on a different level to 5.11.
