Any info on lwrci discovery series

I have the LWRCI DI M6. EuroOptic sold it under then name "economy" but I think it is a discovery. It has LWRC's proprietary handgaurd.

I have been impressed with the overall gun. I'll compare it to a Daniel Defense rifle but for less $$.

A buddy has a LWRC that he put together after trading into a few parts. Hes a lefty and bought the ambi. The difference between the discovery and the full ambi is that obviously, it's not full ambi. The only other difference is that the ambi has a spacer behind the trigger to take up any slop between the receiver set. The triggers feel exactly the same and the uppers are basically the same except for laser etching as far as I can tell.

The guns are light, handy, and they shoot well. Ive shot them side by side 2 DD's, they don't shoot as well as the DD's but they aren't far behind either, not enough to matter. It's simply that "technically" the DD's turn in a tighter 100yd group, but going round for round out to about 700yds, the hit count was the same as long as the shooter can deliver the goods.

If you grt the proprietary handgaurd, you can force MLOK onto it. Specifically slate black industries, the 2 hole panels line up exactly with the holes on the handgaurd but the 3 hole panels do not line up clean, and the vertical grips and barrier stops will bolt up as well. You can make the MLOK nuts work too but there's some slop and personally I don't like how it feels. The MLOK screws are not the same thread pitch as the LWRC mounting holes either, you'll have to scavenge from your parts or go by some. Edit: just looked and the screws are counter sunk style 8-32 with a T20 head, look to be 1/4" or so but most of what I've uses so far has been 3/8" and 1/2" for some applications.

Last is to torque the handgaurd screws immediately once you get the gun. I haven't had a problem, but I noticed they weren't all tight, 50% were good, the other got a fresh application of thread locker and a torque to 15inlbs. They are short screws with not alot of thread engagement so if you go too ham on them they'll strip out.

If you want to put ARCA rail on, Area 419 Universal 4" will mount up well for use on a tripod

Damn thanks. Yea I think the e series and discovery are the same. I got the proprietary one. I like it and a grip and light is all that's on it, bought the hand stop and rail panel kit for it. Is the upper the same as the di. I got this cause it was a few hundred cheaper at sportsman's than the Ambi, and I don't give a shit about Ambi controls much anyway, even if I did I could add all but the bolt release. Lwrci is in the top tier on most charts I've saw around. Have you had any problems at all

Yes both LWRC's have the same upper. The only difference between my DI upper, and my buddies DI upper, is the laser etching on mine is a little different and his did not have a LWRC BCG.

Their piston upper is difference from their DI upper, but you can still throw a piston upper on your current lower if that's what you meant.

question about the ARCA rail. I have an LWRC repr mkii. i think they use the same screws. I cant get the supplied screws to go fully into the hole in the 4" arca plate, in the single hole. I can force them in the slot, but not the hole. What screws have you found that fits....did you buy online and if so can you send a link? Thanks in advance

The accessory attachment holes for the LWRC rail a smaller diameter than what Area 419 supplies and smaller than MLOK spec hardware. I was able to fine a couple machine screws in my junk drawer from previous projects that were the right length and thread pitch to accomplish what I needed.

I know MLOK hardware can be used in the slotted parts of the rail but you've got to finesse it. I wasn't happy or confident in the fit that MLOK has in the proprietary LWRC slots so I don't use that. My buddy uses MLOK hardware on his without any issues but he isn't run n gunnin with that setup either.

Wanted to follow up here for anyone in the future. so sboone was correct II needed 8-32x1/2" screws. HOWEVER, you need to make sure you get ones that have a head size that will fit in the ARCA rail. From this diagram AREA 419 size hole diagram the heads of the screws must be .32 or less and the post .20 or less. these were the only ones I found on Amazon screws. the heads are .3 and I just tried and they fit! Anyway, I have 60 and need 3 so if anyone needs feel free to hit me up!

Thanks for your help
