Any interest in RWS 300WM Brass???

I'm not here to sell anything, so please DO NOT email or PM me asking where to buy, or asking me to sell.

I'm only asking for comment in this thread only to see how many people would be interested in having a source for RWS 300WM Brass.

Background - in the past I was buying RWS 300WM Brass from a specialized ammunition manufacturer, who was offering it at a very reasonable price, but since that source is no longer importing it anymore, RWS 300WM Brass has become somewhat of a unicorn.

Late last year I contacted an individual who works for a group that has ties in the global shooting community about importing some brass for me. I initially committed to 5000-pieces, as this would be the minimum that would be worth his time and trouble. Because of the complexities of getting this product here, I was told a minimum of 6-months.

Fast forward. This morning I received a call from Sweden. It was my contact concerning the RWS brass. Good news is, the U.S. Import paperwork has been approved. However, we are still waiting on the Export permit on the German side, and commitment from RWS from shipping such a small amount.

My contact, who initially wasn't interested in marketing this Brass in the U.S. Market is now considering bringing more than the 5K pieces for my personal needs, and we discussed how this would be a good opportunity to offer something that fills that void between generic Fed/Rem/Win brass , and the $2 per case Norma/Nosler offering.

Here's what I'm asking, for those who would genuinely be interested in RWS 300, please post the quantity that you would consider purchasing, and at what price point you would consider it to be priced more than it's worth. My goal is to buy my personal stash for no more than $1.25 per case. However, the importer stated that he would need to mark it up 30% to make it worthwhile for him. Of course quantity imported, and value of the U.S. dollar has a large bearing to what the price will be when it gets to our shores.

Again, this is not a group buy, and I'm not buying or selling anything here, just gauging interest. I need some good numbers by Friday next week before I can make further suggestions to the importer about offering this product here in the States.

Alpine, like I mentioned earlier, but will restate here to make sure the interest doesn't slip, I'd certainly be up for a few hundred (3-400) pieces, depending on the final price. All in for $1.25 a piece, but the number I would want would dwindle as the price went up.

And Norma being about the same, it would be wise for the 300 WM crowd to show some interest,for a good source of brass.

Nosler brass is softer and of less quality, it's just prepped for better consistency.
As for Norma there is no real quality difference that separate them and justify the price difference for the Norma brass

And for anyone pointing out Norma, RWS and RUAG being owned by the same consortium, you are right but it's produced individually, in different factories.

Depending on the time when payment is due and at what price Id be in for 500 to 1000. Hopefully RWS brass is as good as everyone says as Ive never loaded it.

Lapua contracted out to RWS to make their 300WM brass, if I'm not mistaken.

Chris and Powermac are correct, I was going to discuss this aspect of RWS brass. My source has indicated that RWS usually offers three grades of brass. The top grade is made in Switzerland at RUAG plant in Thun. It will either have a T head-stamp or a RWS head-stamp. The other two grades of RWS brass which Could be made in either Switzerland and/or Germany, are used in either hunting or generic blasting ammo. I'm going to assume that when it comes to 300WM brass, it will be only two grades, one made in Switzerland, and the other made in Germany. The Swiss made ammo that generally utilizes the top grade brass is the Military/Police/Target line, whereas the German 300WM brass is generally used for their Hunting line. I'll only mention it for educational purposes, but the last grade of brass is used for blasting/plinking ammo (typically handgun ammo), and usually will have (and/or packaged) with the RWS and Geco head-stamps. A good example of this was the RWS 9mm ammo sold by Sportsman's Guide and Walmart. It was priced to compete with Winchester USA white box, and had a copper plated steel FMJ bullet.

My source is trying to get the Swiss made brass, but until RWS gets back with him, we can't guarantee if it will be Swiss or German brass. Last year I found a small shop in California that was stocking the Swiss 300WM brass with the T head-stamp, but from what I recall he didn't have much, and the price was well over the $1.50 per case price.

Wow I wasn't aware there were that many tiers of 300WM brass. Ive got plenty of onced fired federal for my cheapo stash ammo. Im more interested in at least decent quality brass that's semi close to Norma quality.

No LOL, I'm working with an importer who is already bringing RWS products into the USA, so he already has a relationship established with them.

Guys, I'm not the one who will be selling the brass, I'm simply doing this for my own brass needs, and after discussing this with the importer, we both thought it would be beneficial to order more than the 5,000-pieces that I have committed to, which in the end may reduce the initial cost, and increase his business sales. I'm not sure if he has decided whether he will order more than what I want for a one-time only huge import, or if he will be continuously importing/keeping stock for future sales?

Once we have word that things will be moving forward, I'll let the importer decide how he wants to handle sales. I'm hoping it will be something as simple as the product listed on his website for all to order from.

I will keep everyone updated here in this thread as things progress.

Never used rws brass before how is it?

Brass is head and shoulders above any other brass. The .308 went through 65 reloadings and the WM was I think, about 45. It is very heavy and you MUST use reduced loads. RWS Germany, from a business perspective, is as dependable as a used rubber!

They continue to show up and then leave the US market at any time. If someone pulls this off get a lifetime supply which is much less than what it would be with other brass because availability will be short lived. i have a cache of 1600 or so cases and am interested in how this works out.

I'm not selling them, working with an importer who is trying to get them into the country. He has the permits done on this end, and still working with Germany (customs) and RWS. Once I know it's a done deal, and they are on the way, I will let everyone know who will be selling them.

I'm not holding my breath, as even the importer said the Europeans are hard to deal with when it comes to the Firearms industry. I guess this brass is peanuts compared to military contracts.

I have since bought 1000-pcs of Norma brass, and close to finalizing a good load, getting great numbers with it just like the RWS. However, case capacity is greater (thinner walls with the Norma), so I have to add about 2.5+ grains of H1000 to get the same velocity that I'm getting out of the RWS. We'll see how many reloading a I can get with the Norma?

Norma has worked out well for me in the past.
Been using it since the mid 90s along with Lapua .

Been trying out RWS for the past few years and has work out well,accept had to reduce loads a few grains.
Accuracy was Excellent.
