A friend of mine is trying to raise some money for a new rifle stock. He brought this over and asked if I could help him to determine it's value and possibly sell it for him. I know nothing about these so if anyone here does, I'd appreciate opinions on it's value. The mag is the only thing that it comes with, no holsters or anything like that.

I tried to get pictures of all of the markings I could see. If more photos are needed just ask.

Thanks in advance

Re: Any Luger guys around?

Go and get this pistol priced by someone with Luger background. Some of those can run 1000 to 6000 or more depending on the history of said firearm.

Just go to gunbroker in the pistol section and search Luger and look at the prices of.

i'll give you 30$ for it :)

Re: Any Luger guys around?

That is a beautiful piece. Could be a non military which makes it considerably
more valuable. Don't make a mistake in guessing it's value. You could miss
by several thousand. There are plenty of collector sites that can help you.

Re: Any Luger guys around?

Thanks guys. I have a friend locally who knows Lugers and I've email him the photo's, just waiting to hear back from him. I'll be doing some research on it as well but I've always had good luck here on the Hide so I figured I'd ask and see what I could find out.

Re: Any Luger guys around?

1914 Deutch Waffen und Munition-DWM, Big German arms manufacturer of the day.

The little eagle stamp is a proof mark, don't see any nazi marks.

Looks all matching the (16) on the small parts are the last 2 of the SN.

The blue is really strong, and the straw color (yellow-trigger and safety) too.
Could be be refinished.

Could be civilian, or early WW1.

Messed with or not it is a very nice piece, and I'm sure the value will surprise.

I want to hear what the Luger expert says, I love Lugers.

Re: Any Luger guys around?

Just got off the phone with him and he told me WW1 era commercial pistol. Mag and grips aren't original and from the pics he estimated it to be worth $750 - $800.

Re: Any Luger guys around?

You can't find any luger for 750-800. He's trying to pic it off you. A civilian is
probably in the 2000-3000 range. jmo. There's a lot of guys around that won't
have nazi marked shit on their property let alone own it. Plus the pre-ww1 age
of the gun. Being refinished hurts the value though.

Re: Any Luger guys around?

I would not get rid of that gun for 750-800 dollar amount. I would love to own one of these guns with or with German markings on it. If it was mine I'd just start saving my money for said stock or find something else to sell and keep this.

You think it has been refinished? I'm asking, I have no idea. I'm thinking about putting it on Gunbroker and letting the cards fall where they may.

Re: Any Luger guys around?

Not sure about it being refurbished but most of the older ww2 ones I have seen
have a brownish patina to them. Maybe yours is or isn't. Like has been said
spend the time and find out what it's worth. Is it .30 or 9mm? You are going to
be sick to your stomach if it's a rare one and you let it go cheap. Look up the
prices on a Swiss marked one.
