Probably going to be moving to Victorville/Adelanto, California for work. Any members nearby who can show me around, advise me on shooting ranges, gun laws, etc?

Used to be you could shoot whatever/however at the old Calico Ghost town just outside of Barstow as it was BLM land.
Haven't been there in a long time tho, so dunno about now.
Still, there will be tons of BLM land all around, call the local BLM office and ask, they used to be pretty cool about it....again, dunno about these days...and it being commiefornia.

Yea, east of the 29 palms marine base is Amboy road, you can take it out to Sheep Hole pass, west side of the road is wide open to shoot.
You can also find lots of old military live ammo and empty cases because that is the approach for the strafing areas and they used to do maneuvers out there back in the day.
I have a few live API 50 cals I found, numerous 20mm empties, random other shit.
But it's quite a ways from Victorville/Hesperia area......BLM will be much closer.

Shooting is anywhere out in the desert, wintertime go up to Big Bear, shopping take the kids to the outlets by barstow, tons of offroading. Calguns has a southern california precision group that meets up out in the various desert areas or at least they used to.

Calico, I have a spot we can get out past a mile... but you do have to watch out for the phone guys running around on the dirt roads. Lots of places to shoot. Lots of wind

That's fairly close.
I'm from Missouri, and will be working in the area for a year or more. I have no idea what the regs/laws are concerning bringing any firearms, and no real idea where to start asking questions to find out.

Look up featureless AR15

Ammo has to go through an FFL if you buy it online

Magazines just say that you bought your magazines during freedom week a year or two ago when they were legal

Open carry is nonexistent but you can probably get a CCW

No loaded guns in the car

People shoot guns in the deserts and mountains all over the place so the odds of being screwed with are practically nil

I have a thordsen stock sitting here you can put on your carbine, add a muzzle brake and it's legal

www.calguns.net

Best site for California Gun Laws which are complicated and pervasive. No magazines over 10 rounds, AR15 magazine locks required, it is a cluster fuck, reason I left. Background check in order to buy ammo. Hopefully this shit will get tossed before I die, but not betting on it.

Thanks very much for that. Just what I need.
Don't get too excited... bunch of internet ninja jackasses on there. Use it for the laws that no one can really even follow or understand. I've given up on trying figure out what's compliant.... I stopped bringing out my scary AR's and just run all my bolt actions and handguns...

You'll notice that Calguns is more of forum to ask the dumbest questions on there, everything but gun related topics. It's hilarious. I've been suspended multiple times for calling guys out... it's almost as bad as LRO forum or 1911 one

I live in OC but am familiar with the area.
The nearest ranges to you are going to Route 66, west victor valley shooting.
there are some private clubs like Lytle Creek gun club and I belong to West End Gun Club

If any one mentions Hodge road, I would stay the fuck away from it. This place is a tard magnet, its all open BLM Land.

So it’s complicated. You’ll have 60 days to declare all of your firearms you bring into the state. We have a handgun roster here. If that handgun isn’t on the roster you can’t buy it for the most part, but you can legally bring in off roster handguns as a new resident. So if there’s something new you’d like buy it now. With that being said, off roster handguns go for major premiums here. Like double to triple the price (gen 5 glocks, p320/65s, and the likes).

ARs are fucky. You can either go fixed magazine or featureless. Both are super retarded. It’s too much to type out, but you can PM me if you’d like and I’ll set aside time to type it out for you.
