I just got back into paintball after about an 8 year hiatus. I remember as a kid all the PB guns I was drooling over that cost $1,000.00 + are now dirt cheep and just as cool.

Any paintballers here? Or specificly old school autococker collectors?

I played hard core as a kid. In highschool, discovered girls and booze and got out. Got back into it again in my early 20's on Okinawa--the island without girls. Came back stateside and haven't played again. At the time, I had $8k tied up in 4 gear bags, packed with everything one needed to play on the highest level, plus equipment to fix/tech a whole teams guns.

Grew up on the South FL Tourney scene as a kid. Would get dropped off at the field in the AM and picked up after dark. Know all sorts of the big names, before they got rich and bought Lambo's. Would get absolutely shot to shit all day every sunday by them (team practice day). It was great and I loved it.

Had a hard on for the Autococker Aftershock backman HeavyD used to run. He was a surgeon with that thing. At one point spec'd myself out a pretty nice free flow. That was back in my eclipse automag days.

Then I left the first time. When I got back the first Shocker (put out by smart parts) was put in my hands for an afternoon. Game over. A mouse click for a trigger pull (uses the same switch), super consistent, quiet, you name it. I later on bought the Warped Sportz Dark Cocker just because of this experience. It was really pretty but turned out to be a huge turd and promptly sold it.

I ran through every gun out there and paid for my weekends fixing everyone's guns. Friday night would see 10-12 guys at my house drinking beers while I upgraded, and repaired, and red-lined their rigs.

I shot everything, worked on everything, and sold everything. My absolute favorite:
Old School Matrix before DYE bought them from Gen-E, Ironman team gun, with team software on the board (Later upgraded to tadao software and board), eyes, tentacle custom trigger with mechanical enhancement. Shot darts, super efficient. Shot so many cases of paint through it I had to replace the solenoid.

Played scenario games (24hour games) for about 9 years, did a couple of tourneys but loved scenario games, my team (team BIG TROUBLE) was MVT 8 years running at the Wayne Dollack games at Hell Survivors and at Challenge Park Extreme

I played in the 2003 Hell survivors big game, had a blast!!!

To the OP, I have a tcp extreme autococker with E2 grip upgrade. The thing still flies. And I have an old heavy ass 2k angel lcd that I used to play in tournaments with. Very good times.

I used to play scenarios and woodsball. Played in empty lots of 40 to 200 acres. We used a lot of the Tippman gear, mostly the A-5. Thing was tough to break and held up to abuse well...besides which we wanted more of a gun simulation and had no rule against E-triggers, so full auto suppressive fire was great. Three or four squads of four or five can have a heck of a lot of fun on a large piece of land with variable terrain and cover. Typical loadout was seasonal camo gear, a spare air tank, 500 rds, and a cleaning rod.

I played on a pro circuit growing up. We were based out of Louisville, KY. I had to drive an hour each way, every weekend for practices and tournaments. We took down a lot of good teams on the Airball field.

I ran a lot of different rigs. I had everything from an Angel, Autococker, Impulse, and my last one was a Planet Eclipse edition that I cant even remember the name of. It was fun but I got sick of the 12 year olds following me around wanting to "sling some paint". Sometimes I miss it but most of the time I do not.

Used to play on a team and traveled the western states. Played about
3 years hard core before I got burned out by team mates. We had a indoor
field for the team which was really fun because of the proximity.

I was the Autococker tech so I pretty much built every team mates
gun or rebuilt ones they bought. Loved the sound of the back block as
it Ever so slighty contacted the body every cycle.

Used have bodies milled then sent to Pk Selective for anodizing.
Bought alot of parts from Kick Ass Paintball in Northern Cal. Which
went out of buisness. They also built some pretty cool cockers.

I didn't keep any of my builds but I do have some pictures somewhere.
Also built Sniper which is turning a Autococer into a pump gun. We
used to piss people off with those guns. They would be shooting at us
with hundreds of rounds and we would go out with 10 balls in are hopper
and clean house.

Used to play in the Chicago market.
Co-Captained Forest Fire. The places to play back then was the original Challenge Park and over at the NIKE site with Bad Boy's Toy's.
We primarily shot 68 Automags. Autocockers really didn't appeal to me back then with all the parts sliding around. Automags were compact and with the right Smart Parts barrel you could really run some rounds out there tapping someone with 2-3 rounds after they just volleyed half the hopper at you.

We had a great time.

Our team was called High Yield. We were a youth team, but traveled to all the big tourneys. we were all 17-19 and we rocked peoples shit.

First gun I ever had was a Nelspot! My dad bought it for me so I would quite killing things with the pellet gun.

First nice marker I ever had was a 68 Automag. that little thing rocked! They were easy to care for and super accurate.

Played 3-man speedball tournaments in North Texas. My first gun was a WGP autococker. Sold it and got a Works Autococker, then I purchased the special edition Naughty Dogs autococker (hence my email address I've had since high school). Finally got tired of tuning the things after every match so I sold them all and got a Timmy. Loved doing all the tournaments but it got REAL expensive real quick trying to pay for paint and guns and parts and entry fees. Hmmm sounds kinda similar to my gun addiction............

Very nice paint dispenser that one is bring back memories. I am still
amazed at how accurate those are. It's a closed bolt system giving a nice
even push on the ball.

Oh memories!!! I haven't been into paintball in about 12 years or so now. I sold all of my stuff at Exotic Sportz near Hell, MI (the store that is just down the rd from Hell Survivors, used to be the same business, don't know anymore) on consignment while I was on active duty, likely around winter 00/01. I had a pretty decent rig, MicroMag that was chrome plated and had gold plating in all of the machining marks, on all of the hardware and the trigger. Had a double finger trigger on it with a cut-off trigger guard (this was back when such a mod was legit).

Last I was into the game, the Bob Long (I think that's what it was) autococker was pretty much THE autococker to have, Automags were still 100% void of electronics and 4500psi air tanks JUST hit the market, although if you had a 3000psi, you were still miles ahead of most everyone else, CO2 still being the main propellant for the majority of the higher end guns.

The first electronic markers I can remember (and the only ones I ever knew much about since everything else came out after my departure from the game) was the Angel and some other model, can't remember the name. All I can remember is it sort of turned out to be a bit of an abortion.

When I first started out I had a Tippmann Prolite... and lite it was not! It was loud and heavy! Finding somewhere that you could get CO2 filled was a huge pain in the ass, let alone finding someone who would fill an HP Air system; dive shops at the time would not touch your shit unless you had a diver cert card, didn't matter what you told them or showed them.

What does paint go for these days by the case? I remember "marbleizer" was the rage back in the day, and you'd pay between $130-$150 for a full case. I would feel like I hit pay-dirt when I'd stumble on some nelson paint by the 2500ct case for $80... even though it was absolute shit paint, filled with broken balls and curve balls.

I must say, I am somewhat taken aback. When I tried the 'paintball' thing a few times, it was much different than what ya'll are describing.

Simple single shot's was what we used. Can't for the life of me, remember the name. And the dream talk between assaults was of these new, hi-tech, 'primer-fired' paintballs that had to be "snapped" into inserts. These babies were fully automatic. Major discussions took place about them.

And this was back in 1986-87.

Recently played for the first time in 10 years.

Back when I played before there were so many levels of markers. You started with a tippman, then went to mag or cocker, then to shocker, then to angel, etc...

Now everyone and their mailman has a $200 full auto electro. Really changes things. And interesting guns like autocockers seem to be long gone--'collectors items'. Cockers used to be the rolls-royce of paintball guns. Now anything without an electric switch for a trigger is literally an antique.

Right now I have a a Planet Eclipse Ego 07 and 08 and a Tippman X7 and a TipX pistol.. I can't wait for the big game at West Point and really can't wait to get back to the states where I can play more often.

As for paint I think at the West Point game it's like 60-70 a case for some really nice paint.

The sport really has changed a lot but if you really want to get a nice game mag fed is getting huge! They have huge scenario mag fed games around and that is pretty cool if you ask me!

The 07 ego is the best one PE made. If you like the big games you should check out Oklahoma's D-Day. it's a lot of fun as well

I used to play quite a bit. I have a TCP extreme autococker w/E2 frame and a 2k Angel LCD. The angel was awesome when I got it, now it is just a friggin brick!!! My autococker still shoots awesome. The one in the picture is not mine, mine was solid pewter. They just rocked with the E2 and eclipse supercharger valve. When I am done with college and all that I will definitely get back into. Too fun not to.

Well just a FYI.....those of you who bought or used CCM equipment (Chipley Custom Machine) know the quality jason turned out. And now he is building custom rifles!

The shop is located here in Redding. It is Chipley Arms. The website is up but not yet functional.....we are still getting equipment and slowly getting things set up. We have turned out some nice long range hunting and match rifles so far. Do a search on my post and look at the custom Tikka threads to see some of the rifles we are making.

Went for the first time two weeks ago...tried it again last weekend to make sure it wasn't a fluke that I had such a blast! I used to be one of those guys who didn't understand why you'd want to play paintball, but holy shnikes is it fun! At least how we were playing was/is. It's an outdoor complex with dirt berms, trenches, stacks of tires, obstacles, the works.

It was fun until a speedball team (which I knew nothing about at the time) joined a pick up game with a group of us...holy smokes those guns fire fast! I couldn't believe it, like a solid wall of paint coming at you! After cowering like a little bitch I said screw it and surrendered haha

Anyways, I'm a convert. No I'm not going to be dressing up in head to toe ACU or MARPAT with chest rigs like some of these guys...but I'm definitely buying an entry level marker and plan on playing alot more. If any of you have never tried it, I suggest you do. What's more fun than shooting at people and not going to jail for it!? (or wasting away in a freakin shit-hole country in the desert)

I recently just stopped playing.. I absolutely love the game. Our area is being over run with cheaters and it really just puts a bad taste in my mouth... Not to mention, the spray and pray method of playing now is overly irritating. I sold my autococker and mini off. I kind of wish I didn't though because we have deer problems in my town...14 deer in my yard this morning, and I can't shoot any of them. Having a paintball gun to spray them with would be wicked fun!

I started playing woodsball when I was about 12, eventually got into several local 3-man young guns tourneys and ended up playing for a couple years on my university paintball team. I bought a Smart Parts Nerve the first year it came out, paid like $1200 for it brand new, and even after around $800 in upgrades and accessories and all that, I can't even get $350 for all of it

Haven't ran it in over 10 years but I cant seem to let it go. It sits in the top of the closet with an old intimidator that is all upgraded and all the stuff to play. I should of sold it all 10 years ago when I could of gotten something back, now it is worth more as a wall hanger. Also have an old raceframed cocker that was something when they first came out.

Looking back, the whole thing is pretty goddy and just downright ugly. The large drops also helped with the big heavy C02 tanks before we started running compressed air. A 20oz tank setup with siphon was the shit once apon a time, but it weighed about 3 times that of my carbon fiber 68/4500. Hell I still have an old steel HPA tank rolling around somewhere and those things were awesome when they first came out, but they didnt last long. Paintball was changing fast back then, but nothing like I see it going through today.

I'd rather shoot real guns at fake targets than fake guns at real people. I've used simunition/sims "paint" rounds in my job for over a decade in quarterly CQC training. It lost it's appeal long ago. Live fire is where it's at.

I played in the early to mid 90's. I always preferred Automags. The last summer I played I was running compressed air with a slinky remote to the gun. A case of Marbalizer was about $100, and I could go through a case in a weekend.

I played a few small woods ball tournaments, and a big game in Silver Lake, MI. Otherwise it was just local stuff at a friend's field.

I never cared for speedball. I'd rather sneak around in the woods. Gave it up and sold all my stuff in '95, because I got hooked on 3D archery and couldn't afford to do both.

I do miss it sometimes. I played indoor with my nephew a few times a couple years ago. It was fun, but outside is better.

All the cool kids are playing airsoft these days. I do get a kick out of watching some of the UK sniper guys who go balls out with ghillie suits and play sims. I'm not nearly patient enough for that so we have a pile of springer airsofts we run around the yard and shoot each other with.
