Well I'm getting tired of cleaning brass twice, first in a wet tumbler than a second time in corn cob to get the sizing lube off. This will be just for the bolt guns, is anyone sizing before cleaning and is or would there be any problems running dirty brass in the sizing die. Thanks just trying to speed things up a little.

Biggest reason to clean brass is to cut down on wear and tear on sizing dies and to keep from scratching them. If you’re wet tumbling your brass most guys use a de capping die to punch the primer, which it sounds like you are probably doing. It’s hard to keep from tumbling brass twice but I’d for sure clean it before sizing it.

There is zero benefits to wet tumbling that will show up downrange. If we are talking bolt gun brass you should have clean brass with some fouling on the neck. Shit you can wipe that off with a rag and size.

I dry tumble in corn cob with primers in, size then tumble in corn cob. Done.

As long as you atleast wipe any dirt or sand off them they can be resized without cleaning. I punch primers, tumble, anneal, resize, trim/chamfer/ debur then tumble again for 1min to remove lube and brass shavings. Could resize and do all of that then tumble last but my only test i would run is what effect if any extended tumbling had on accuracy from damage or deformity to the case mouths since that would be the last step. I didnt notice any accuracy issues in my side by side comparison of tumbling for 1 min at the end but an extended time might beat up the case mouths enough to see something in the ES or SD.

If you use $10 off the shelf sizing dies then who cares? But if you're using $60 custom dies that take two months to get, you’ll think twice before running dirty brass through them. Scratching a die ruins your day for sure.
