Have the hellfire on a couple rifles. Waiting on an omega 300 to get out of jail and will be using it on the 419 mount. Taking the brake off isn’t too simple, I need to loosen the collar and then take a rubber mallet and hit the ports in the direction towards the muzzle to loosen it. Is this the norm?

EDIT: got it figured out. Was just being an idiot. Thanks for the help!

Definitely not the norm. Mine go on and off all the time very easily. You may be over tightening.

Not normal, at least in my experience. Sounds like they're getting a bit carbon fouled. I have one that is starting to slightly get "tight" in the collar. I need to clean it for sure.

I have had to take a a pair of vice grips to break the initial torque on the collar, but after that it’s smooth sailing. This is always after I have neglected my cleaning responsibilities for far too long.

Mine came factory installed and the first time I tried to take it off I about sent it back it was on so tight. I finally said fuck it and took vice grips too it and it came off. As you loosen it it will feel like you come up against a wall - that is it popping off the collar. Keep going and it will come off.

This was the answer lol I was just feeling that wall and then stopping. Keep going and they pop right off now. Thanks for curing my stupidity

Stuff like that is much easier with a good barrel vise ... I use this one ... it's awesome.
