Any way to get a vertical grip mounted on standard handguard?

You can mount a section of picatinny rail to the bottom of the hand guard them mount your VFG.

You can do it but you won't like it or feel good about it. Better off just getting the right hand guard.

There are multiple companies making "rail sections" (polymer and alloy) that will mount to the standard vent holes found on your average A2/M4 handguards at 6 o'clock, BUT...as with all external forces exerted on a non-free floating handguard system on a rifle like an AR, you may turn acceptable performance/accuracy into SHITE with the addition of a VFG to them.

Really want a vert. grip? I've been taking mine off. Now that I think about it, not running one on any of my rifles.

I've seen people use standard AR pistolgrips with the two "ears" that locate on either side of the receiver tab cut off. File it a little to help locate it in therib with the vent holes, then use a bolt, nut, and washes to secure it through one of the vent holes. Though the trend seems to be going away from using VFGs. Your rifle, your choice.
