Range Report anybody got the real BC for LeHigh 330gr borerider

The calculated BC is .941 but, I have my doubts about that. We all know that calculated vs. actual are usually very different and, in light of the testing thread, most are very inaccurate.

So, I've taken my time with getting everything ready for shooting the new 375CT build I've got and, I have some test loads done and am about to start work on finding loads etc.

I've got some 330s that I have about .010 off the lands and I've got some 350gr predators in the mail that should be here this week.

If I were a betting man, I'd bet the actual BC of these bullets would be somewhere around .820 - .830 for G1 but, I haven't seen anything where anybody ever did any actual testing on the 375CT bullets.

Ideas?

Sorry I don't know actual BC.

Do you have a good chrono like the Oehler or PVM so you are certain of actual velocity? Knowing the correct velocity is crucial. I wasted a lot of money and time with my 375CT fiddling with come ups with my (then) crappy chrono.

I sold the rifle but if I had to do it all over again I'd try stepped G7 BC's for ELR.

My experience with the Lehigh 330's was that they did very well inside of a mile. Past that wasn't working. I think the reason was I had a 11.5 twist. 10 twist might have solved the problem???

I had the opportunity to buy a 1:11.5 barrel but, I opted to buy a 1:10 RWS rifle on a stiller action with a brux barrel.

I'm pretty excited about it. I've got some boreriders here... I'm expecting to get from Steve some predator 350s in the next day or so.... Steve is a cool guy at dynamic research.... I'm going to try some cutting edge projos too soon.

I'm about to go out and shoot the mile shot first... ( for a warm up ) then we're going to shoot long range. haha

I can't wait to get data on this beast.

Folks wonder why would you get such a beast as a 375... till they see one working...

When you see the 300wm guys ( me being one of them ) trying to moonshot a round onto a 1500-1600yd target... this just makes it child's play.

I love my 300wm but, the right tool for the right job etc.

The wind drift for the 375 is the same at 1mi as it is for the 300wm shooting amax bullets at 1000yds.... nuff said.

I'm a long time shooter but, somewhat new to long, long range shooting. I was a high power shooter after being a small bore shooter as a kid... made the president's 100 in 1984 at perry... I know how to shoot but, for the last few years I've been shooting 1000yds with the 300wm at a local range.

It's way different to shoot a 300wm at 1000yds at a 4" clay pigeon than shooting a 7.62 round at a 600yd target prone in a sling. This is a whole different thing.. learning your equipment, loading for it correctly and ( in my old discipline ), doping the conditions. I love it.

So, this new rifle is just another extension of that.... how far can I go or, better yet, when shooting to 1000yds, can I spank a 4" target over and over??? Can I spank a head shot at a mile??

I'm waiting to find out as I'm holding my loaded rounds now... I've got the LeHighs at about .010 off the lands based on the threads I've found here saying they need to be close to the lands.... I've got 20 loaded in different charges... I'm starting small.. at 130gr of retumbo and going up to 133gr...for now... I'll go from there.

So, I'm going to make my own quote:

Some guys play golf.... but, I do it with a different ball and a different club.

I don't have much else to share, just a few things. Fed 215M primers worked best for me. The Hooker,Jamison 350's flat out sail........ but foul the bore quick. Retumbo worked best for me as well as hotter loads, I believe it's because of the good load density provided. I had to seat the lehigh 330's waaaayyyy out to get to the lands, so far out I had to adjust run out, the good news is it was easy to adjust run out .001 and less , which made them very accurate.

The friend I sold the rifle to has been having good results with the Cutting Edge projectiles.


You have pretty much summed up my experience with 375CT. It's amazing what the cartridge is capable of. With other cartridges at ELR distances I've noticed a lot of missing to the left and right of the intended target whereas the 375CT is more capable of strikes in the same wind conditions. I also noticed if it's too windy it doesn't matter what someone is shooting, LOL.
