Just curious if any others here have made the switch from FFP optics in favor of SFP.
While I understand the logic and rational to the FFP, I can honestly say in 4 years of LR shooting I have yet to find myself in a situation where I actually needed it.
OK to clarify what I mean by need is that I see FFP as a time saving fuction as it allows holdovers and range est at any power without turning a power ring. I also beleive the FFP optics to have more accurate dimentions wether that is due to them primarily being made by high end manufacurers or by virtue of design I cant say for sure but many SFP optics seem to have inaccurate mildots for the ranging power.
Curently using a PR 3-15X Gen 2 but I'm seriously considering making the switch to a 5-22x NF mil/mil zero stop. NF honestly is the only non FFP optic which holds any appeal at all as it ranges at 22X which I can only see as being a real issue in very hot weather due to the increase in mirrage however since I live on the rainy side of WA state I think I'll be able to get by. More and more I find myself wanting a finer crosshair and a bit more magnification.
Havent made up my mind for certain yet but thus far all I have owned were FFP and an ST-10 so I have a good idea of what I'll be giving up but for my use the FFP almost seems more of a hinderance than an advantage.
Anyone else have this realization?
