Hey guys, I was just wondering if anyone has any experience with the original STEALTH rifles from winchester... I have shot a Stealth 2 in 25 WSSM and it was a shooter, was looking into a couple of the original rifles in .308 and .22-250. just out for some good opinions from the good folks here on the hide. Thanks fellas

the 22-250 is a local guy who has gotten into some legal trouble and needs to round up some cash. rifle is NIB, the .308 i had seen on gunbroker awhile back... I assume you think badly of them?

I have a Stealth that is basicaly new, maybe shot 20 rounds down the tube. Before I stuck it in a McMillan HTG M40A1 stock yet to bedded, it was shooting .75 MOA groups with Black Hills match. I wasn't trying to shoot tiny little groups so it would probably do better with any effort.

Re: Anybody out there shoot a Winchester STEALTH 1?

I had an original Stealth in .308 when it first came on the market. Win. M70 push feed action, 26" heavy CM barrel, HS-P stock with the recoil lug bedded in some kind of synthetic compound from the factory. It shot very well indeed. The only reason I sold it was to help raise money to pay for the M40A1 that Terry Cross was building for me at the time.

I probably should have kept the Stealth and found some other way to pay for the KMW rifle. I still have Winchester's earlier version of the Stealth, the Heavy Varmint, which is pretty much the same thing only it came with a stainless barrel. Mine is a .223, and it REALLY shoots. I won't make the same mistake - this one's a keeper!

I had one in 223 that was NOT very accurate. I could not get any loads to shoot better than about 1.5 moa. In fairness,I Had friends that owned Stealths that said they held sub moa easy. I suppose that's pretty much the case with many inexpensive production rifles.

Re: Anybody out there shoot a Winchester STEALTH 1?

I had a Stealth 1 in .308 and it was a shooter! Really like Federal 175 match and my reloads that closely matched.

I sold it to pay for a GAP. The guy I sold it to blew it up. He said he doesn't know what caused it and was trying to fix it.

I really liked that rifle. I liked the stock better than the Stealth 2. If I had the money and came across another one, I'd buy it.
