Anybody own an Anschutz 1416D?

Not an expert on Anschutz, but I believe that is a 64 action with a single stage trigger (I think the "D" means single stage). Based on what I have been hearing the 64 is not nearly as nice (stiff) as the 54 repeaters. Some say get a CZ 455 action instead as it is as beefy as the 54. Don't know. I have the 455, now looking at the 1710HB.

It is a 64 action with a single stage trigger.

I have a custom 64MPR LH version built for me by the Anschutz custom shop. It has the same action as the 1416 other than mine has a tuned bolt for very consistent ignition and more consistent ejection, a 2 stage Anschutz trigger and a match chambered barrel. The same barrel as on the 1416D other than it was cut shorter and rechambered using a match reamer. It shoots like a laser...I have the before and after test targets.

I have shot the CZ many times...nice stick but not in the same league as the Anschutz line. Yes the 54 actions are stiffer and results are even better than the 64 action based rifles but they are significantly more money as well. If they made a LH 54 repeater, I would have likely gone that route initially. I doubt it now that I have my 64 MPR and see what it can do.

I have never handled an Anschutz, and I would hope they are in a different league compared to a gun costing 1/4.

I have thought about picking up a used MPR and having a smith barrel it for me. Do you have any groups of the MPR, something like the 6x5 thread? Curious what it can do. Also, was the gun bought from them, or did you send in your gun for the work?

PM me with the details please if you don't want to post. Just curious! Thanks

They are in a different league....and nothing against the CZ...I liked shooting it a lot. Owned one for a while and sold it when I bought the Annie.

I have been meaning to shoot some 6x5 but haven't done so yet. Have to get some of those targets. If you are familiar with the a23 50 yard target, it has no problem putting 10 shots in the X ring.

I bought it directly from them after submitting a custom work order and talking to Steve. They don't work on previously purchased rifles. From what I understand fitting a barrel on either a 54 or 64 action is not easy but I am not sure so you may want to ensure the smith knows what he is doing. Lilja is the barrel to have if you are going aftermarket or so I have been told.

Here is a pic of my Annie

JBell has been considerate enough to have kept track of the various 6x5 threads. Unfortunately much of the data was lost but the V1.0 stats are still illuminating. The 64s have always been well represented. If you read the first post https://www.snipershide.com/shooting/threads/6x5-thread-v3-0.6253073/ go to the 100yd. average and you will see a guy named Yoteman on top. His average is still the best ever posted. A remarkable card that is verified. Particularly remarkable in the face of the equipment that guys are shooting today.

A terrific shooter with a 64 based rifle that is shooting well and having one of those magic lots of ammo, is going to be very very hard to beat.

Never noticed that 100 yard average by Yoteman. That is crazy impressive.

Absolutely "crazy impressive." If I remember correctly, he shot with a group of guys from W.Va. who were shooting PRS type .22 matches. He didn't even want to put it up because it was so "impressive" but literally got goaded into it. He bought the rifle used and took a little off the muzzle so he could recrown it.

These guys had some interesting comments on ammo selection. They invited JBell down to shoot with them.
