Rifle Scopes Anybody use the Vortex hst 6-24?

I’ve ben pretty happy with the HST. I had it on my HCR 6.5 CM and it was great. I upgraded that rifle to a PA Platinum (thinking rifle and scope should match up) and moved the HST to my 6.5 CM gasser. I don’t know how it compares to the Athlon. I’d buy another HST if I was shopping in that price range.

I'm running a Vortex Crossfire II 6-24X50 and so far I am happy. Cheap scope/first rifle but the hst is high on my list for an upgrade. IMO, it might be a Vortex Thing....my brother can have any scope he wants. Money is basically no option and he runs Vortex because he has that Vortex Thing.

Vortex really markets good stuff in a style I appreciate.

I have and use a Vortex HST 4-16 and 6-24 both track well to 1000 yards and hold zero perfect. The 4-16 is on a SPS tactical 20" .308 and this year alone it has helped harvest 4 deer and a cow elk out to 638 yards. I have the 6-24 on my 6.5x284 and last year with that combo it took three deer and two bull elks out to 552 yards. This year I upgraded to the PST 5-25 one in MOA and one in Mil. I did not see any hang ups in the HST they are great scopes and Vortex VIP warranty is beyond amazing. I may be willing to sell my 6-24 for $600 if you are interested ? I have the 4-16 on the .308 because it is and was used my wife and teenage boys who had shots from 200-500 yards and wanted to make it easier for them to see the target. PM me if you are interested

I have the HST and it’s a great scope. It’s not a Razor HD Gen II (or even a PA Platinum), but it’s good glass that tracks consistently and returns to zero. Do run a tall target test on any scope and write down the scaling, though.

VooDoo, in the other thread, I very nearly wrote that my upgrade path from the Crossfire was to the HST. Funny. I tried to save money on optics in the beginning, but now I’ve learned. At least I’ve been able to trade some of the early optics for reloading equipment and in some cases good will.

One other thing about the HST, it’s second focal plane, but has a nice good click at 18x, where the reticle can be used for ranging. That’s a nice feature. I found it works perfectly when measuring mils during sight-in.
