Hunting & Fishing Anyone Draw ?

The cali draw results came in. I didn’t get either of the premium zones I put in for, but did get a D3-5 tag. So now I have a black bear and a realatively good deer zone, and I still got my preference point for missing he premium.

my first draw/lottery and first elk hunt! got skunked in new mex, but got colo 1st rifle (elk) in 21, 22, 30, 31, 32 (nw colo, above 70, against utah border, below 64 (white river), west of 13). just got the four huge blm maps that cover these gmu's and am looking them over, but open to any suggestions in narrowing down where to start! the gmu's go from 5k to 9k feet.

I drew first rifle in Colorado for unit 25 (which includes about 10 other units where the tag crosses over) for my first elk hunt. I’m pretty pumped. I’ve just been doing map recon as well as reading everything I can on the internet. I’m also open to any advice you guys might have.

Try to find a herd the week before, they will bugle until the first shots are fired, after that it will be spotting scope time. Get out the night before and listen, unless another bull pushes them they will often be in the same place at first light as you find them at night. I love 1st season. It will probably be warm, so if you get one get the hide off ASAP and get the meet in a creek or on ice right away. Good luck.

I got the normal message, that the Washington Department of Fish and Game mismanagement thanks you for your donation again this year , and by the way you didn't draw shit for about the 12th year in a row or something. Another couple years and the wolves will have big game populations pretty well whittled down to the nubbins here IMHO. The dipshits are still issuing doe tags with already depressed numbers. Oh yah, the question was did I draw, HELL NO!

Thanks for the advice Caveman!

I actually did OK this year in the draws. For my home state of Oregon I drew a mule deer buck tag in a unit I've not hunted but may have access to some private land so it could be good?? Also drew an extra deer tag and a late cow elk tag.

And did Ok for my Wyoming draw, no luck on deer but did get a buck antelope and 2 doe tags in the unit I usual hunt in so looking forward to being back in Wyoming!! Also put in for the leftover draw to see if I can score one more doe antelope tag- tasty critters IMHO.

Doe deer for my usual area near Granby/Grand Lake and a doe pronghorn out east just north of I-70 where a friend’s family has a lot of land to hunt.
Will be doing my hunting with my trusty Tikka T3 in .308.

Short on time this year, so just a couple quick hunts for some meat.

I got drawn for my first hunt last year in Oklahoma. It was for muzzleloader and had no luck. It was by far one of the hardest hunts I’ve ever done. I’ve been putting in for South Dakota for two years now but to no avail yet.

I didnt draw my Elk tag that I wanted, but I did draw an Idaho Unit 39 Doe tag, and an extra either sex deer from unit 11.. So Im pretty happy with that. I will likely end up with one mulie (doe) and one white tail (I would love to get a nice buck, but I wont hesitate to shoot a doe or forky either) Im super happy because I dont hunt for the trophies, I hunt for the meat.. And I can still buy an over the counter elk tag for almost anywhere in the state.
