Anyone had success shipping a rifle to themselves?

I'm just curious since it's legal via the ATF (to ship to yourself without being or going through an licensee). It's allowed according to UPS's policy, but I've called two UPS Customer facilities and they said that yes, it is allowed by law and by their policy, but they won't do it because UPS doesn't want to ship guns (some kind of unwritten, internal policy, best I can tell). I told them they needed to either abide by their published policy or change it. They claimed they didn't have the authority to do and wouldn't give me the name of anyone who does. What a load of *$&%!!!

So I'm curious if anyone has actually had success doing this anywhere? And if so, where and how?

it's perfectly legal, but you have to truely be shipping it to yourself... for example, if you're going on an out of state hunt, ship the rifle to yourself c/o whomever you're hunting with in the given state, then ship it back home c/o a family member or friend... if you're trying to buy one off gunbroker or here and have the seller ship it in your name, you're committing a felony

as for UPS, you'll get answers like that at a UPS store, go to the hub

Re: Anyone had success shipping a rifle to themselves?

I understand the law, I'm just trying to ship according to it and they won't let me (even though their posted policy says they will).

The place I called today is the hub. Any other thoughts?

Fedex or USPS. And you need to contact the manager of that UPS hub. And if he is the milquetoast faggot that doesn't like the icky metal contraption, contact his boss. Written policy IS policy. Mental policy is cause for doing your best to make that liberal son of a bitch starve to death, because he got fired for being a grade A douche bag.

Havent done it for a while, but I used to ship my "sporting goods, and optical equipment.....Glass/fragile" by UPS all the time. Never had any problem.

The "UPS Store" and UPS are not one and the same. Go to a UPS hub and I highly doubt you'll get the same issue.

The UPS Store doesn't have a place to secure a firearm in their facility until the UPS driver picks it up so they don't accept them.

I've shipped a lot of stuff via UPS and I refuse to use the UPS Store.

Forget talking with the HUB. Get yourself an account and print your own shipping label. Take it to the HUB and you are good to go. Just make sure you insure it and what not. I have never had a problem doing it that way, only when I talk to a UPS drone do I get flak.
