I have been playing with some LC M-80 that I was given, I've got about 160 rounds or so that were in belts. Actually 4 cartridge links because all of the tracers were pulled.

In any case, I've got an 8 yo never fired VLS and I'm just wondering what kind of groups I should expect from this ammo.

I did do a quick check on the chamber it looks like the bullets will be doing about a .013 jump to the lands.

Those bullets are cheap and made fast, so expect 3-4 MOA and be pleased if you get 2 MOA.

Check 'em with a magnet if you buy the hype about soft iron, copper-plated jackets, or if you are just curious. All of it I've ever seen from US production was iron jacket (Call it "steel core" and I'll CHOKE you!!!)

There are some fairly credible, to me, reports of some people getting barely 1 MOA with various surplus ammos, but I also do not know whether these are 3-round groups, or if they are counting the best two out of four groups, if yanowutImean.

Let us know what you get. I just use 150-gr SMK load data for them.

    I'll do the magnet test.

I haven't fired this rifle with any good ammo. My trip to zero my scope has me hoping that it's the ammo and not the rifle, or me. It's been a few yrs since I was at the range, and I'm way out of whack, but I know I shoot better than that.

I didn't get better than 2MOA, hell my muzzle loader shot better groups. Your first estimate of 3-4MOA is probably closer. I've only fired 20 rounds or so so I'll take it and play with it some more, I at least want to get the brass. Maybe they'll make good cold bore fouling rounds.

I've tested different types of M80 Ball - DAG, ADI, LC - and find accuracy out of my accurate bolt gun averaging about 1 1/4 MOA...

It may surprise you - give it a run and report back.

Having a zero and data card for M80 ball in your 308 kit is not a bad thing...

    Works great in my M60

I use it to sight in new scopes. It was cheap and I like LC brass for reloading. MOA (US M80) is 2. You and your rifle can do better.

Really depend on which M80 you get. I had one lot of I think FN stuff that was pretty close to 1 MOA, it's a hit and miss with a lot of the surplus. LC stuff is usually about 2-3 MOA. A lof depend on the rifle too.

Re: Anyone have any accuracy info LC M-80?

I was really unhappy after my last trip to the range so I made some changes to my stick.

I replaced the stock Remy laminate stock with a B&C A2, replaced the rings and mount (got rid of the leupys and got a rail and XTRs)

Today I was zeroing the scope, once I got it dialed I shot a 5 shot group at 100yds that was no more than 1.5 to 2 MOA with the LC M80s. I'm much happier now.
