Rifle Scopes Anyone hear whether or not NF is going to FFP

I know they have it for the 3-15 powers but waiting for the 5-22 to come along in FFP. Just curious if anyone has heard if if its a plan or not.

Rumor has it the 5x25 in the first or second quarter of 2012, probably will see it at shot in january.

No FFP for the 5.5-22. The new model is going to be 5-25 and is gong to be in a different class than the NSX models.

I know this is a bold statment since I have not seen them...but chances are if they come out charging $4k i will go $1k less and go with IMO the best scope out there the Schmidt.

Chances are you are incorrect about price, as they MAP everything and usually set prices around 5% below MSRP. That would put it $200 off MSRP for street pricing if it is $4000. $4000 would also put it above what the S&B or Premier sell for.

If it comes out at $4k then you'll hear the SuB & Hensoldt guys high fiving eachother like a schuhplattling dance on steroids.

There's a ceiling to everything and with all signs showing the economy is about to dive such a price would make for interesting viewing. It'd also keep the resale value of competitor scopes up.

Nightforce would be silly to go to a larger tube IMO, they have done everything so far pretty much perfect, changing one thing at a time and making sure it works for it's intended purpose. The only reason I don't have one is.... I cant really think of a reason that doesn't have two large S's in it.

Anything with a mag over 20x and Nightforce quality would sell like hotcakes, regardless of if the glass changes or where it is priced, even if it is more than SuB. Remember your exchange rate is changing so the Sub is gonna go up too.

The laughable speculation is the price quoting when the masses don't even know the full specs on the scope, but are spreading unsubstantiated rumors like a bunch of bored housewives.

1 person mentioned price so not really the masses making any speculation here. I started the post just curious to know if NF was planning on going to an FFP platform on their higher magnifications...the price will be what it is when they release them, I am more curious to what took so long to get there and when will they be released to the public.

How quickly these threads tend to go down the wrong path.

For those of you that shared useful information whether rumor or not...thank you

I know for a fact that it will be priced at $3999.00 but this will include a new illumination system that uses a small solar panel to recharge the built in battery, and a motorized assist turret system that goes to 11. While most turrets stop at 10, theirs goes to 11.

I actually popped a chub when I saw it.

It was at SHOT this year, but only certain folks were allowed behind the curtain. Unfortunately I was not one of those folks.

Sounds like they are taking their time to get it right before it hits the market. Maybe at 2012 SHOT I will get a peek behind the curtain.

I got to see it at SHOT. It defines the word <span style="font-style: italic">innovation</span>. They will also offer a typical NXS version of the 5-25x FFP scope, but a lot of guys will be curious about the Stealth 5-25x FFP (sorry, it reminded a lot of us of a stealth bomber, only way to describe it). Last I heard, they were hoping to have them ready to roll out by SHOT 2012, but don't quote me.

Back on topic, I agree with many here, why would they price it so high when some of the best scopes in the world are $1,000 less. I mean there's more then one way to skin a cat but I'm sure they haven't come up with something so revolutionary that it's worth that much more then Premeier or S&B? If so, then good for them, I hope our brothers in arms get first crack at it.

Are they still doing both, last conversation I had with them, it wasn't decided if they were going to offer both versions ?

There may only be one version offered ? I know they are still batting the ideas around but have them confirmed both ?

Ha. Maybe if you have the ability to think past your nose you'd realize that some people are granted inside info, because of both their profession, and because of the designers wanting their opinions on the prototype. That doesn't necessarily translate in that person owing the Internet community info on a prototype he was probably asked to keep quite about.

Leave LL alone, he's doing the best he can being a MOD on this janky ass site.

Y'all need to lighten up, it was just the way his comment came off when I read it. Just because I don't swing on his nuts all day does not mean I don't understand the industry. I have several co-workers and friends who are very invested in this community and game.

I was simply stating the fact, the way his comment came off was IMHO very rude. Everyone knows what Lowlight has done for this community and site but I feel there is knowledge and respect for a man in his humility, something his statement did not have.

I also understand Nightforce does not want him leaking anything, that's why I posted the question of "care to enlighten". Everyone here knows he is "top dog" around, so why make statements like that?

Guess don't get ya'lls jockies in a wad, I was simply just stating my opinion, you don't have to agree with it. If anyone else would have made that comment ya'll know they would have been flames about it. I'm just the only one who said anything. You clearly don't get it, do you? See the little 'A' under his name? That means he's "THE ADMINISTRATOR", also known as the OWNER. Furthermore, if he happens to 'enlighten' a little too much it would give him a <span style="font-style: italic">very</span> bad rap in the industry. I clearly understand that he can't tell us that why I thought his comment was arrogant. I was just always taught when you are in a position of power or a prestigious position that you have some humility, there again as I said before his comment did not have.

I'm not going to argue about it, it's clearly derailing this thread. I just did not realize we woke up in Russia this morning.

It was just my opinion, Lowlight is from what I hear a great guy and it was not meant to piss him off. I just feel he could have worded different, maybe "guys I've seen this new scope, it great , you will not be let down" instead of the arrogance of "ha, I'm a mod, I know more then you, you little ants".

You definitely have a more inside track than I do with NF so you probably know better. At SHOT, they said they would offer both, with the NXS version being less but things could've changed since then. If they decided to go without the NXS version it would have to be purely a business move that is more cost effective for them because they got some feedback that the competitive shooters might actually prefer the NXS version of the 5-25x FFP. You would be wrong, they put a lot more into this then stuffing great glass into existing technology. Was it 22 new patents? The R&D costs have to be amortised and recovered. I promise you, they with not charge more than the market will bear.
