Anyone here have a Remington 770? - Read this:

Re: Anyone here have a Remington 770? - Read this:

They are really cheap peices of shit. they do not shoot at all and are horrible, They action is sloppy as hell if your shooting a barn at point blank then they are your rifle. If you want to hit a target at 100 yards then you better go with something else. savage makes alot better rifles for the same price, i pitty the person why buys one of these. and yes i have experience

I saw one at a Gander Mountain once when they first hit the scene.. I mused right past and never even handled it.

how about the article itself?

Well-written, comprehensive, too confusing, <span style="font-size: 14pt"><span style="font-style: italic"><span style="text-decoration: underline"><span style="font-weight: bold">waste of time</span></span></span></span>, etc... </div></div>

^^ For the win! ^^

I don't know that a technical overview or design history or anything else that the link provides is really necessary. Folks on this forum certainly aren't going to be the target audience for the work because the general consensus from first-hand experience with the 710 and 770 rifles (or reading problem-filled reviews for those without first-hand experience) is that they have always been and will always be wastes of time, money, etc. Now...with that said...you may find a home for that article, or a different point of view, from a different audience.

I've shot one of these scoped, in .270...

I shot it offhand at 100 yards, and got a 4" group over 5 or 6 shots.

For the typical guy who goes out and bags him a deer once a year from somewhere between 50 and 100 yards... It is plenty adequate.

Don't know the price on these. Better be cheap, because it is a pretty lame rifle.

I like all the composite parts they used on the 710 and 770's. Really cut down on the weight...

especially when the parts broke and fell off.

Fair enough, exactly the constructive criticism I can use.

As for the rifles, I'm not a fan myself, and tried to be as unbiased and factual as reasonably possible.
