Hey guys,

Question regarding this can.

I'm wishing I had bought a direct thread. I emailed Huxwrx about taking my QD break and thread lock this directly to the can, effectively turning it into a direct thread. Why would I want to do this? QD mounts are spendy and add up when I spread it out over all of my rifles. Also, it's can be a bear to remove from the course threads until it's really cooled off. Here is their response:

"The Flow suppressors are going to be QD only. The only rifle suppressor we offer right now that has direct thread capabilities is the Ventum series.

We would advise against thread locking the muzzle device to the suppressor as it can cause issues with suppressor alignment, functionality, and will disturb the cleaning and maintenance cycle of the suppressor.

You would be best to get a muzzle device for each rifle in the proper caliber and thread pitch that will allow you to use the QD system and move easily between rifles."

I'm not sure I agree with this logic. 1. The break doesn't need to be timed in a can, correct? And there are better breaks if I only want to run one 2. I'm just changing the order of which this goes on to the barrel, meaning, I'm screwing to the barrel instead of the QD mount. How does this affect alignment/functionality if the barrel thread or muzzle QD threads are gospel?

The only thing I can think of is maybe when it comes time to cleaning it it might be a PITA, which doesn't bother me. Or, the root of the response is to sell more QD attachments? What am I missing here?

I imagine at least part of it is that they don’t want you to get the brake and can permanently stuck together. How many rifles are you planning to run this on? I’d say just pony up for the extra mounts over time.

Just bolts. I think this is part of my annoyance with it. I mean it gets hot, but not semi auto hot. When I'm ready to leave the range and throw it back in the case, I have to wait around to remove it. 1st world probs, haha.
Not what I would have chosen for bolts but you do you man!

@Bluedog82 I got a great deal on it.

What would you choose differently for bolts? It's the only I own so I'm new to them.
Literally anything that isn’t a flow-through can. The whole point of that can is to be run on semis-autos, where the lack of backpressure is a selling point. All that is wasted on a bolt gun. For a general precision rifle/hunting can, I really like the DDC Enticer S TI.

Copy that. I learned something new. Thanks, Bluedog.

My pleasure. You have a fantastic can for gas guns, so you may as well use it as intended and get something else for your bolt guns! By the way, the Enticer S Ti and many other traditional .30 cal cans ship with a 5/8x24 direct thread mount (5.56 cans typically ship with a 1/2x28).
