I'm struggling with the search function on the about topic. Figured I would ask. Wondering about the a-max bullets because of the high BC. My rifle is 22" remington and I'm looking at the book wondering if (wishing) I could get a 162 up to 2700 fps. Any input is appreciated. Thank you.

Re: anyone loading 162 a-max in a 7-08?

I was wondering this myself today. I was wondering if this would be a decent enough bullet for deer hunting. While I was standing in front of the recently supplied bullet shelves at the store I came to the decision that it didn't matter as they are to long to feed from the mags on my 700 mountain rifle. Not necessarily too long but too long to get enough powder in the case behind it. I then grabbed a box of 154 sst's to try as they are a bit shorter. I'm looking at them now and are also very long but I guess this will give a chance to try some powders out, probably use that re-17 that disappointed in the 6.5x47. I'd like my OAL to be in the 2.980" range and it will need to be in the 2.280" range. That's alot of case capacity loss. Though if you single load them you can do whatever you want.

I got 2630 with IMR4895 with no pressure signs. 24" Douglas tube, OAL 2.835".
I'm gonna try to go up a little, Hopefully I can get to 2675-2700. I don't want to run any pressure signs, because if they're mild in the fall they'll be spooky in the summer!!

Vith N150 will bring you between 2700-2800 ft/s.
I am using reformed Lapua 308 brass CCI BR primers and 40,7 N150. I am getting 2760 with a 25 inch barrel
