Hoping to hear about some accuracy.

Considering a build on a CZ 455

I’d like to build one for plinking with the advantage of using the spent cases as 6mm jackets for home swaged bullets

Yep, lots. Expect 2 moa at 100 yards
With occasional sub-moa when ammo quality cooperates.
I think I'm the only entrant who used 22wmr in the 6x5 rimfire challenge.

I used to shoot my arsenal of them daily until about 2-2.5 years ago when ammo became hard to find hear in the North East. I actually found my CZ 455 Varmit to be a great shooter! I found that it liked the CCI Maxi-Mag 40gr HP the best. I did well with other ammo but that was the best for my rifle. From what I remember I had no issues grouping 1 MOA at 100yds. But as said above ammo cooperation is the biggest challenge. Good luck.

I recently purchased a new Savage A22mag and while I love the gun right out the box its a horrible travesty against shooting! The cheap plastic stock I swear is made from old milk jugs and has just about as much strength. Would not shoot under a 4 inch group at 50 yds! When I finally figured out the accuracy issue I ordered a Boyd's stock and glass bedded in the action. It's a great shooter now with around 1-1.5 inches at 100 yds and big bug holes at 50. Sadly there is just not really and decent ammo for the 22 mag and I feel that is the limitation of the round.

Marlin 25MN, was a project rifle a few years ago; Cut, thread and free floated barrel, bedded stock, polished trigger and bolt components, over-sized bolt handle, DIP 20moa (I believe it is anyways) scope rail, grip and forearm texture, flush mount cups, recoil pad, painted the stock and added a stock pack. Any armadillo in the back yard (100-ish yards) is dropped where it stands. Stock is a Bodys laminate of some sort. My first ever bedding attempt ended with me cutting the stock off the barreled action..

Also added the 2nd action screw

I used to wonder what the 22wmr was capable of at 200 yards.
You read about folks making unlikely claims of accuracy at extended range with the cartridge.
If you apply the half-third rule of rimfire to the spread on target
you can predict the results at lesser distances.
200 yards 9 inches of spread
100 yards 3 inches of spread
50 yards 1 inch and 25 yards 1/3 inch of spread.

I just tested all the brands and types of 22wmr ammo I could get my hands on.
The entire box, 50 shots at 200 yards, across a chronograph, at a single aimpoint.
CZ 455 Varmint, set trigger, Feddersen 16-1/2 inch heavy barrel, Mueller 8-32x44 scope

I'll be doing this with the 17hmr, 17wsm and 22lr.
It's an entertaining way to start out a morning at the range, before setting up my F-Class 223.
Work out all the yips before attempting precision shooting with my centerfire handloads.

Nice posting of results. Looks like Fiocchi JHP had best groups for you. I too shoot F T/R with .223 - shot this weekend and hosed relay three with a target crossfire... 0 really blows match and an aggregate!

Not too many manufacturers of 22wmr.
ArmscorUSA, Armscor Precision, Aguila, CCI, Sellier & Bellot and Winchester.

Federal, Hornady, Fiocchi are relabeled CCI.
Browning is made by Winchester.
The manufacturers date codes are on the boxes to check.

HK300 here man, the coolest 22MAG ever, IMO.

I shot the smallest group with it a couple weeks ago, .75" wide and .3" tall, 5 at 100Y. This was with 30 vmax. It won't do this all the time, averages about 1.2". I can hit our 5" square spinner at 191Y most of the time.

The 22wmr is not a precision target cartridge.
Accept that and use it as intended, you'll have no complaints.
Look at the muzzle velocities recorded.
Between mv spread, irregular brass, improperly seated bullets,
primer/powder variations the resulting spread on target isn't unexpected.
It's a small game hunting/varminting round.
For thumping a fox/raccoon at the chicken coop, it's ideal.
The hi velocity lead-free cartridges are handy for turning rodents into meat spray.
