we have done it and it shoots well, generally speaking we have found that using a suppressor, for all intensive purposes, will increase accuracy. we have not seen any issues.
Certain suppressor designs will add too much back pressure to the 30 caliber ARs. This can cause the guns to run too hard. A common problem when this happens is breakage of the bolt stop. Rifle length gas systems will run smoother. As much as I dislike adjustable gas blocks on 556 guns I think they are a good idea for the 30 cal variants.
Yes, I had a SWR Omega 30 on mine back when they first came out. I also put the SWR on my 300 win mag Ar30. Shot fine, took some recoil off the 300 win mag.
Good luck.
I have a Gemtech HVT on mine and it works great!! It makes a different gun out of it with the suppressor on. I made an adjustable gas regulator out of me stock one and that really cuts down on the banging of the bolt and keeps it from getting so dirty. It still is dirty but not like it was without the regulator.
When I first got the suppressor and put it on with the adaptor I had accuracy issues on the AR-10 but not the bolt gun. I called Gemtech and talked to them about it and they told me to send the upper with the suppressor to them. They found the barrel was not threaded correctly and fixed it for me at no charge!! I could not believe they did that when it was not a suppressor problem but the threading on the AR. They said we want you to be happy with our product and I am!!!!
I'm running an AAC can on my Surgeon 338. Works great and actually shrinks group size ever so slightly. Recoil with the can is less than with the muzzle break.
