I'm in the process of building a 7.5" ar pistol (barrel on back order) and this will be for a plinking/trunk gun. I'm not to worried about plinking ammo but I would like to load up a defense load to maximize the lack of barrel length. I've been playing around with quickload and I've found that VV N120 and IMR 4227 both show gains of 30-80fps and powder burn goes up to 96% or higher. standard powders are 78-85% burned.

I hear that the report and flash is pretty bad with such a short barrel length so I would like to reduce it as much as possible. I will also be putting a noveske KX3 flash hider on as well.

i use n120 with 40gn vmax, using lapua brass and a 16" barrel with silencer fitted it hit 3950 fps with no signs of pressure, it cooler here so probably be a hot load for you,
You should see what it doees to a fox at 50yards !!!!!
