i wish I could get the 6-24x50 model with the illuminated mildot reticle with Locking turrets. Thats my dream scope at the moment. One day Im going to own one of those super nice scopes.

My father has one, it is a beautiful piece of glass, I love looking through it. Allow me a question though, sorry to hijack a little. What are the subtensions on the rapid z varmint reticle? I was trying to make sense of it the other day, and nothing added up.

I'm not sure about the rapid Z varmit rticle??
I plan on using the Z-Plex reticle on mine for hunting w/ the ASV turrets.

Ok, that makes sense, but WTF caliber/bullet/velocity/ect. are they for? It seemed to me that every other stadia on the reticle was the same distance apart. and that the OTHER every other line was at some different distance from its predecessor. If that makes sense.

i dont like the rapid reticles, I'd rather have the mildot and get BDC knobs. I wish someone would post some good reticle pics. Pics where they are actually aiming the reticle at something other than the sky.

They have a ballistic calculator that lets you set up all the parameters and get the most out of the reticle

The rapid z can be used with any caliber, the problem is being second focal plane it is only good at one power setting. Also the rapid 1000 was desigened for a 308, the one I had was spot on at 19.5 power with a 175. I'll have to look up the load/ velocity, but it was varget, shooting out of a rem 5r. I drew up a target that let's you figure out your hold over with any set up, if I remember I'll post it up and explain it when I'm at the office Monday.

Only real complaint about my Zeiss Victory 6-24x56 is there is no provision for a sunshade on them.
been thinking about getting a 4-16 for a hunting rifle,will stick to the #43 reticle,personal preference.

Sandrat, on the Victory FL 4-16, there is no reticle 43 offered.
The glass is simply uppercrust, that's for sure.

How much elevation travel do the Diavaris have? I love that they're 1cm/.1mrad, but would it have enough elevation adjustment?
I'm looking at getting a 3-12x56mm with 43 reticle and the turrets. Need to know if this would be an acceptable rifle scope out to 1000.

They are supposed to have the same glass as Hensoldt just without the extra military coatings right? Im really thinking about selling my NF 3.5x15x50 for one of the 6x24 Zeiss Diavari's..... hmm tough decision.

If you do, you will not be sorry, having used a NF like yours for two comps and having had two of the 6-24x56 Ziesses I can honestly say that there is a gap in the way things look in them,
especially when the lights go out or the weather is shitty as it can be at times.
I loved my Ziesses, the only reason I sold them was to get a PMII and a Hensoldt,
the PMII is great but the "feel" of the glass in the Zeiss is better, to me, not saying that it´s an absolute truth.
I´ll be getting my hensoldt in this week and I will really try and test it out coming week.
As for the Ziess being a good tactical scope, well they are SFP scopes, for me that sorts of excludes them othervise they are all that and some.

that 4-16 diavari victory is nice, with the asv knobs and zplex, it makes for a very appealing scope. personally i like to crank turrets rather than use a ballistic reitcle. i don't like ballistic reticles.

I have the 6-24x56 and have been happy with it so far. It is made in Germany so everything is metric...not a negative just something different. As others have said the glass is great and the mill dot in mine is much more desirable than the Leupold Mark 4. The dots are adequate size to use for shooting without dialing...the mark 4 is- well in my opinion way to large. I don't know how you hunt but keep in mind these are relatively heavy scopes. I don't have one but am considering a swarovski for my hunting rig they don't seem quite as heavy...but I cant confirm this with the lack of research I have done.

[Mildots and 1st plane why? I use a laser rangefinder and like my reticles kept sharp/thin/small at high mag so I wouldn't have either.]

This scope is more squat and less good looking but I wanted to save a bit of weight as its going on a Rem 700 custom .223. Its for field use and I don't take the .223 out further than 400m so 1 cm clicks is fine. The dot centre covers a corvid breast at about 500 so well small enough. It will be a month or so before I use it as the rifle isn't ready yet.
These are the scopes I've settled with, and invested in, after a lot of searching. The format works for me in every way. They are matched to Night Force Ultalite rings with Half Ring Level and Angle Cosign (not degree) Indicator which work perfectly with these 30mm scopes. All the information comes to the eye without moving my head. The 308 has 20mao Picatinny rails and the .223 probably just flat and the scopes mount low as one can dare.
I'm happy. Durability? I'll tell you in a few years.

For a lot less I like both the Zeiss Conquests and Bushnel Elite 6500. No locking turrets and illuminated reticules are the only things missing.
