As I was looking into different 20mm weapons and stumbled upon the Anzio 20.

Here it is next to a .50 Caliber model Anzio makes.

I want one just to show it off at the range, maybe even use it to defend the coast from Chinese battle cruisers, idk...not many practical uses really. Hunting with it would get messy.

Re: Anzio Ironworks Corp.

Okay...here are a few more questions:

1) Isn't a 20mm Rifle considered a DD? If so, what are the legalities of owning one?

2) As for ammo...while obviously it isn't a DD unless it is HE ammo (or depleted Uranium)...where do you find ball or other "legal" projectiles for a 20mm? Lathe turned customs? What about a reloading setup? And...like Ranger...I want to know how much per round that is going to run?!?!?

1)Yes it would be considered a Destructive Device and it is required to purchase a $200 DD Tax Stamp

2)Explosive rounds require a $200 Tax Stamp PER ROUND! As for reloading and all that I found some sites that sell 20mm brass, so i guess you would need to machine your own dye or buy a 20mm dye for your press.

I'm sure I left out a bunch of info, but I am a noob when it comes to this stuff.

Re: Anzio Ironworks Corp.

all everyone does around here is the "just sayin" lines....

What is the pooint to having a 20mm rifle and having to pay $200.00 tax and the month long waits THEN if you go custom ammo how much would it take to tool up and get the items to spin lathe turned solid bullet? and if you dont have a lathe or access to one, you're shit out of luck yet again. To much work just to pull the trigger.

Ill stick with my common calibers.

"Now for the shooter who has everything and an unlimited budget to keep it fed...the Anzio Ironworks 20mm Mag-fed Rifle."

I gotta go with KYshooter338 on this one. While it might be a fun rifle to monkey around with...practically speaking it is kind of a waste unless you have a really loooong range to shoot it on, really deeeeep pockets to pay for ammo/components, and access to some machining equipment. Hell, Jamison lathe turned 419gr bullets for the 408CT are already running roughly $3/bullet once you pay for S&H. I can only imagine how much they would run for 20mm bullets...not to mention the amount of powder per round. Also, what priming system do these things run? Will 50BMG primers work? If not, you have a WHOLE other problem on your hands.

Anyway...interesting rifle.

As for nobody "in the right mind [buying] one"...I bet that you'll find there are people out there already that have them in hand. I'd be interested to hear any personal experiences with these rifles and feeding them.

To the best of my knowledge you have not “officially” shown us your collection inside your “man cave” it does not take a tremendous leap of logic to extrapolate what it would look like.

I enter for the jury’s consideration Exhibit 1 thru 4

Re: Anzio Ironworks Corp.

If one has the money, who are we to question if the practicality of it. Why do women have so many pairs of shoes, and shoes they have never worn? I bet other people who are not as interested in this hobby would say the same thing about some of us having so many rifles. It could be said with just about anything we aquire... like money!

Jer, the best one is the pic of "this story was brought to you by Bro Inc."

WTF? Nice anti gun slogan there KY! I hope that is sarcasm. Same thing could be said for people having 50's, 408 Cheytac, 338LM, machineguns, suppressors, etc, etc.

Yes, it's excessive, BUT there are those with the financial means (the mag fed 20mm is in the 12k range) and the area for it to stretch its legs. I'm a C3 dealer and have friends with functioning artillery pieces in their collections. There are shoots out west where targets are set up at 1000yds plus, and I ain't talking paper ones either.

The steps to own ANY NFA (destructive devices included) are very long, drawn out and thorough. Those in the C3 community are for the most part affluent professionals and have impeccable records. NFA firearms have the SMALLEST amount of criminal use in the firearms community.

This is America, we have freedoms here that are unique to our country. I attend the Knob Creek MG shoot every spring and fall, and have spoken with people from all over the world who come to experience this event because they don't have anything like this in their countries. Time and time again I hear how lucky we are to be able to do something like this, own firearms like these and how we should be thankful that we live in a country that allows this.

It pisses me off when I hear someone say there is no need for a private citizen to have those kinds of weapons. Same thing could be said for ANY firearm!

Rant off!

Re: Anzio Ironworks Corp.

As a side note, I have a friend that owns one of the Anzio 20mm guns. He said it's a friggin blast to shoot. Recoil is about the same as a 50 cal. He's working on a suppressor for it right now. I'll have the opportunity to shoot it in July when I go to a private shoot at Knob Creek......should be fun.

Hey Steve,

When you have time, get your friend with the 20mm to get on here and post some details on the rifle/ammo/reloading and some of the questions above. (Or get the info and pass it along for him)...

I don't have any need to own a 20mm (hell I can barely keep myself in ammo for the 50BMG and 338LM with prices these days), but I really am curious about these rifles and his personal experience with them!

Thanks for the input!

Re: Anzio Ironworks Corp.

O.K., one more post.

Regarding the ammo...the cases use 50 BMG primers. Inert blue pro-jo's are in the 5.00 range. Lathe turned match bronze bullets are becoming available...not sure on the price, but they're nothing to make you drop a brick in your pants over.

Anzio has also came out with the "20/50" It's custom formed 20mm Vulcan brass necked down to .50" With the slower twist you can shoot AP rounds ( Below 3000 fps range if memory serves). If you go with the fast twist barrel you MUST shoot monolithic solid pro-jo's. 3500 fps range. Jacketed bullets will fly apart. Only about 4-5 reloads on the cases before they're trash.

The rifle itself is very cool looking. Between the 20mm and 50 cal in size. I was trying to talk him into scaling it down just a wee bit and chambering it in 50 BMG. It is very atheistically pleasing to the eye...nice lines.

Re: Anzio Ironworks Corp.

As our founding fathers included the 2nd Amendment should the need arise for the people to take back a Government that becomes Tyranical in nature, I see the place for these types of rifles in private hands. "If" the need were to arise, the people would need to be as well armed as the standing military/LEO's to be effective in achieving their ends..... (I also pray we never see this need!!!) Wish I had the $$$ and space to try my hand at the ELR game!

Dude, please reevaluate that last statement.Really. Unfortunately, the rhetoric applies to 50s and then to YOUR 375/408 etc, etc, etc.

Extreme-no doubt. Fun-bet your ass.But that anti-gun,and it IS a typical antigun argument is typical of certain unnamed policiticans that we know so well.
