I'm trying to decide between a couple of different White Oak Armament barrels. One is the SDM barrel the other is the SPR barrel.

First, I'm wondering if the SDM barrel is $100 better?

Also, does anyone know if SPR can be fitted with a standard front sight?

Thanks,

Paul

Both barrels are excellent and should provide you with nearly identical results in terms of accuracy. It really comes down to whether you want an 18" or a 20" barrel. Also, the SPR barrels I have seen from WOA usually have an intermediate/mid-length gas system. I think that they offer them with a rifle length option, but again, that is another difference as the 20" SDM only comes with a rifle-length gas system.

As for the FSB issue, I don't see why you couldn't put a standard FSB on the SPR barrel. The SPR barrel doesn't have any special contouring where the FSB/gas block would mount up...any 0.75" diameter unit should work. Check with WOA to make 100% certain this is accurate.

Yup what ORD said. The SDM is a fluted 20" and the SPR is a special contoured 18". They both weigh the same according to the WOA website. I would guess the fluting is why the SDM costs more.

Just comes down to which one you want, WOA is good to go.

I think I would like same accuracy, same weight, 2" less length and $100 less jack.

I did find out from Mr. Holliger that Rainier Arms does the front sight work. I'm going to give them a call.

Thanks for the help.
