Gents, i'm sure this has been beaten left and right, but my search fu is pretty weaksauce right now.

Looking at mounting a brake on my ar-10, to additionally add a suppressor to said brake when i leave california and move to a nfa friendly place.

Which one would you recommend? Which one doesnt piss off others on the firing line? Do either of them kick up too much dust in the prone?

Thanks. ANY feedbacks appreciated.

Re: Ar-10 brake, surefire or ops-inc?

No experience with the surefire break, but from what I have read and heard, they are quality products. I really like the Ops Inc design concept of their muzzle break suppressors. Not sure how effective the break is--I'm told they work very well, and the 12th model suppressor has some of the best sound suppression out there, at least for the 22 cal version. I have heard others like the 30 cal can too.

I plan on going with the SureFire Brake/Adaptor. Armalite w/Eagle Upper 20" .750 muzzle. It will look awesome too!

Re: Ar-10 brake, surefire or ops-inc?

The Ops brake is very good at reducing recoil on my LR-308 - prolly the best I've found - but seems to significantly increase the muzzle blast for the shooter.

No personal experience with Surefire.

Re: Ar-10 brake, surefire or ops-inc?

I have a surefire break/suppressor adapter on both my 308 and 7wsm rifles. It is a quite effective break. The 7wsm is a kitten with the break. The 308 is only 18", and the break works very well at reducing recoil. It is a bit hard on the folks next door....mostly due to the short barrel. They are all like that, though. The suppressor mount-up is good on both as well. I have a 0.1mil downward shift that is quite repeatable on the 308. 7mm hasnt been tested with can yet.

I have the following:
Primary Weapons Systems FSC30

I am very happy with it, but I do not have a tremendous amount to compare it to. I would say the rifle kicks a little harder than a hot 77gr load in an AR15. Recoil is slower though.

Here is the rifle:

WOW thats a nice rifle

+1 on the FSC30. I don't even notice the recoil on my gun.

But, it also weighs 15.6lbs without a magazine so that may also play a role.

i went with the Surefire brake for my Armalite,. the recoil is pretty much nil. the can is expensive,. but i can also use it on my .300WM (Remington 700 5r) which has the same brake instaled.

i'd say get the Surefire,. you'll be happy.
