AR assembly ...do it myself or pay a 'smith.

I'll start by saying I have the tools and mechanical ability to build an AR and I've done it several times on my own.

I've assembled all the parts to build myself a lightweight and (hopefully) accurate AR-15. I wanted something with an 18" barrel and found a good deal on a WOA with matched bolt. My question, is it worth the cost to have the parts put together by a good gunsmith to squeeze as much accuracy out of it as possible? Say I send the parts to GAP (dunno if they even do this), am I going to see a big difference in accuracy? Is there that much more they can do during assembly that I can't do?

Also, if this is a dumb question, feel free to let me know.

Just do it yourself. The machine work should already be done now it is all a matter of final assembly and finish work. I'm not trying to take anything away from any particular smith but there is no reason you can't assemble the thing yourself. Just pay attention to detail while doing it.

If you already have the proper tools, then jsut do it yourself.

I know there some trick and tweaks that can be done for supe accurate, match type rifles, but for a lightweight, 18" most of the accuracy will come from the quality of the tube.

Another one for do it yourself. I think most of the accuracy and quality of AR builds come from quality parts. I here good things about the WO barrels. I wanted to pick up that same barrel/ bolt combo you got. Let us know how it shoots.

You've got a matched bolt/barrel. Torque your bbl nut at least three times. Free float it. Your golden man! Take the pride knowing you did it.
