Somehow I think I'll get the answer here faster than anywhere else.
I have a Colt AR-15A2 1:7 HBAR that I want to start shooting in service rifle. This isn't a big priority for me but there is a well organized service rifle group at my club and pretty much any excuse to shoot is a good one.
The question is what is the best/easiest/cheapest way for me to float the foreend, get the sling off of the barrel and still stay service rifle legal?
This is not the first competitive hobby I've participated in and I realize that it will be a while before I'm limited by my equipment and not my skills so I don't want to go out tomorrow and buy an upper from White Oak (though honestly it's an appealing option), maybe if I stay with it and feel that I need it but not today.
