Hey Fella's,

I would like to get some input about the different AR Lowers thats available. I have very little experience with AR's so thats why im asking for your help. I have done search's and have read alot on this site as well as others but just wanted to get input on what I was thinking of doing and if there were any differences good or bad with the many different Lowers available.

So heres what im thinking:

I was looking at getting a 6mmAR or 6mmAR T40 upper although the 6mm RAT looks good too. This is for my son who does animal control hunts for the state and govt. agency that he works for he will be using it for hunting goats mainly where sometimes he might run into a herd and his bolt gun limits him at times. The farthest shots is maybe 350-400 yds and some rare 500+. He likes the 6mm because little recoil but more than enough punch for the goats. Thats the main use for this rifle.

I was thinking of getting a straight .223 upper for plinking/practice/fun gun and a .50 Beowulf upper for hunting boar in the thick stuff a friend has one and I already have all the reloading stuff for it.

So any and all info. help, good or bad experiences etc will be greatly appreciated. Looking forward to your replies!

Thanks Again for your time,

Kawika

Re: AR Lower Choice?

I bought my Black rifle back before the Obama Surge and all the options. Yet its still one of the best lowers out there.

Rock River Arms Lower

You get a great 2 stage trigger that other AR's dream of. Its great for accuracy. I like the Hogue Grip which is a softer rubber that feels good even with large hands or gloves. Fit and Finish is nice. Mine has a Commercial Size Stock. If you already have military stock accessories then that could be an issue, if not then its my choice on the way to go.

Re: AR Lower Choice?

If you are looking for a complete lower I probably would go with the Rock River with their 2 stage trigger. Their trigger is damned good compared to the junk triggers that normally come in an AR.

If you are looking for a stripped lower then the brand doesn't matter much as most of them are probably made in the same place anyway. Midway has a Yankee hill lower for $86.96. If you do get a stripped lower and want the best AR trigger on the market then get the Geissele. Its pricey but worth it IMO.

Re: AR Lower Choice?

+1 to what the others say. I have had Colt,RRA,Fulton, and Olympic. The Olympic started out as a stripped and I assembled it myself. Used a RRA 2stage trigger with a White Oak varmint upper. It was a real tack driver.I would have no worries using any of them again.
By the way the RRA has a Whitley 6mmAR upper on it now. If you want some advice I would go with it. It is real easy to load, brass is easy to fireform and it is laser beam accurate.

Re: AR Lower Choice?

Thanks Alot Guys for all the info and links I greatly appreciate it. Looks like RRA it is!

I was looking at getting a geissele(sp) but will see what thr RRA is like first. If its good enough then i'll probably go with that for now.

And yes, I was looking for a complete lower sorry for leaving that out.

Thanks Again,

Kawika
