After shooting my precision rig for a while now, I took my AR out and forgot how shitty the factory trigger is. I know there must be 1,000 threads on this, but I want a simple answer. What is the best, not fuss, drop in replacement trigger that will give me a sweeter break?

edit: I don't want to invest very much money in this. I want the best bang for the buck

What he said ^.

I have experience with both. Gieselle triggers are awesome, but for the money the Bill Springfield trigger is an unbelievable improvement.

Don't see the difference, but thanks any way for the advise

Geissele high speed is the ultra smooth and by just changing springs, you can have the pull weights of all versions, Service, DMR or Match.

But if you have a standard FCG like DaveV, the Bill Springfield trigger job makes a significant improvement, like night and day. Though, I see he has increased his pricing. A year or two back, I got a 3 lb job with the JP springs for $50, I believe. I also see he is now offering a 2.5 lb job. Your worked trigger isn't going to feel like a Timney or Chip McCormick drop in at over 3 times the price, but when you consider this was your original, gritty mil spec group, you'll be amazed.

DaveV, I see you're running a Colt FCG. I'm guessing this is from a newer production Colt? I know Colt FCG's have been large pin, until recently.

big difference. take up is planned. creep is not. i have never shot a 2 stage either, but i know takeup from the trigger in my walther LGR. when you get to the end of the take up and the trigger gets firm or stops, the next movement will fire the rifle. creep i learned from my first 1911 from AMT. its the vague amount of travel that the trigger has before getting firm and then the even more vague distance that you have to squeeze before it goes off. i can feel the contact between hammer and sear and you are never sure when its gonna pop. my kimber, crisp and predictable. still id like to shoot a 2 stage before i buy and install it.

hope that kinda helps. thats just how i think of it, not sure its exactly right

oh and there were three RRA 2 stage triggers going for $100 or so in the for sale area

Re: AR trigger

This is a fire group I bought from R-Guns back in the mid/late 90's. Don't remember exactly when, but it is small pin not Sporter crap.

Re: AR trigger

I Just installed a JP Trigger in Mine.
It was not a direct drop in and shoot. Had to do some fine filing. But it shot very good today.
No Full auto, no creep.
I had a Jard, It was 4 way adjustable. Very Nice Trigger.
But in my experience it mis adjusted its self some how after 1000+ rounds.
The trigger got hard and wouldnt fire and you could release and try again and it would fire.
I readjusted everything by the manual and it worked fine.

Re: AR trigger

I had a RRA with the NM 2-Stage trigger. It was pretty good for a factory std trigger. I have used Gieselle, Chip McCormick and KAC triggers that were all superior to the RRA, but significantly more expensive.
The Chip McCormick is the easiest to fit. The KAC was the most expensive. It is also the softest; I am not sure how it will wear in the long run. I believe the Gieselle is the best alround. I have never heard anything bad about them from anyone, except price and availability.
I considered the Bill Springfield trigger job, but adding the $50 to the price of the RRA NM brings is close to the price of the Gieselle SSA.

I am no gunsmith by any stretch of the imagination and I was able to drop a Geissele DMR trigger into two different AR's. It was relatively easy and the trigger is outstanding. When I go to buy a trigger I go to Geissele first and if I can't afford it I go to Rock Rover next.
