Re: AR10 Barrel Break In

I was told that my yankee hill 1/7 16" barrel would take 300 rd to "settle in" by the owner of my range that I bought it from. 560 rounds in the next hour of the cheap shit then a 30 rd group with ss109 confermed one ragged hole dead center at 25m rapid fire. I call that "broke in" The rubber coating on the sling loop on the gas block melted L.O.L. Oh well changed to a low pro block and magpul buis the next day Why waltz when you can rock and roll!!!!!

Re: AR10 Barrel Break In

Great moves. All my barrels get the exact same treatment.

I am interested to see how that Noveske handles the heat when pumping rounds downrange at that rate (or a high rate in general). I wonder if my factory DPMS SASS barrel would group better (since it is a heavier profile) or if the Noveske would group better once heat was brought into the equation.

I hope the Noveske shoots better than a factory DPMS SASS barrel in general. I say that just based on the cost comparison.

John, maybe when you get some more trigger time, you can post how she groups when she is hot. I have only run about 60 rounds through my new tube, but guaranteed I will see how mine handles the heat.

Re: AR10 Barrel Break In

I never felt guilty about following a similar breakin procedure with all of my rifles, only annoyed by "range experts" uncounted, certain of my stupidity for not following their's.

I am more convinced than ever it is a waste of time and ammo.

Good video.
