I've got about 150rds thru a new AR10 and the gas rings aren't holding a real tight fit to the carrier like any of my AR15's. You can shake the bolt in and out. Is this normal? I guess it's a gas ring (singular). No operational issue.
My AR-10 bolt will move if you shake it violently. If you tip the BCG up and down normally, the bolt stays in place. If you rest the BCG face down on the bolt, will the McFarland gas ring hold the weight? Mine moves slightly, maybe about 15% of the way down. Armalite shows an acceptable OD range for the ring http://www.armalite.com/ItemForm.aspx?item=EA1055&Category=8c79b6d7-df94-4498-9d3e-c76eaa613b0a You have to remember the mass of both the bolt and carrier on the AR-10 is greater than the AR-15.

0.652 - Out of spec. That stinks. Guess I'll try and get a couple of those before next weekend. Good call, and resource. Wonder why it died so quick. Worked fine when they were tight too. Hopefully just a bad part.
Steve, I meant my piston is loose in the piston carrier than his....Uh, wait a minute....Oh forget it.
