Usage: Bolt action 6.5 creedmoor
Purpose: Light hunting and PRS matches.
Scope: Gen 2 razor.

I was pretty well set on spuhr rings, but have taking an interest into American Rifle Company products.

Is there an advantage to either set for my intended purpose?

Are the spuhrs worth the extra money?

Thanks in advance.

Oh boy, you just opened a can of worms :) My personal preference is ARC because of the unique one bolt torque which greatly reduces scope twist when tightening; however, Spuhr has the unique leveling feature as well as many accessories that can be attached to the mount. You're not going to go wrong with either, both will mount your scope solidly and last you many years of service.

I used to think that ARC are expensive but one look at sphur prices make them look like a bargain.

ARC is all Im putting on my stuff now personally.

Unless youre going to screw other stuff onto the rings save the cash and ge the ARCs

I own both, my main hunting rifle wears the Spuhr 4000 34mm rings.
If weight is a concern the ARC's are much lighter and more sleek and just as high quality as Spuhr.
The Spuhr are incredibly nice, larger foot print and bomb proof with alot of options for accessory attachments. I chose Spuhr for the reason that they're super strong and have a wider surface area and when combined with a bit of resin you'll never have to worry about the optic moving.

I got both to try on my new build. The ARC design I think is a winner with the single screw closure on the top. But I’m kind of ocd about the rifle can’t so the level really appeals to me. I think if the ARC rings had a level in them there would be no question which way to go unless you have to hang a bunch of stuff on the rings.

The unimount does, and its still cheaper than the sphur rings

I can’t see the level too well from behind the rifle using the ARC unimount. An acquaintance has the same issue with his, enough so that he bought ARC rings to replace the unimount.

I hear you on this and considered it. I'm just not sold on the necessity of the one piece mount when there is already a rail on the rifle unless you need the extra cant or need the scope higher like on an AR. Definitely a nice piece of kit though and if I found one at a decent price I would jump on it.

Does the decision change for all of you if you want to occasionally move the optic to other rifles?

I will be purchasing a scope in a couple months. As it will likely be my buy once cry once scope I have a feeling I will be wanting to pop that on the hunting rig and trainer. I have a set of ARC rings I really like and love the single bolt design. Thanks!

If I was moving the scope around I’d prefer a unimount. No chance there’s a misalignment from rail to rail that way. Not that there should be, but...

I have the Spuhr Mount, and also one gun in Spuhr rings. Just used the ARC mount on a 7.62 gas gun tomount a NF SHV. So, I have experience with everything you’re looking at. IMHO, the Spuhr is the top, the king of the hill, but it can be 1) costly, 2) overkill on some set ups. I have nothing but positive to say about my experience with ARC. I didn’t see a reason to spend the money on another Spuhr Mount to throw on a 16” gasser in 7.62. That rifle is a DMR type set up, range gun, hog gun, whatever you wanna call it. It’s one of my favorite just to go shoot and have fun with. It’s deadly from 0-800yds. The ARC mount is perfect on it. Super easy to mount, the one screw design is awesome to get leveled, and it doesn’t twist and move when you’re torqueing it down. I have no issues recommending them. The Spuhr Mount is on my GAP-10, and my A.I. has Spuhr rings. Both of those guns I compete with, and I have absolute confidence the scopes aren’t going anywhere.

It comes down to this: if you can, and you’re willing to spend the money, Spuhr is the top. If you don’t need it, or if you don’t want to spend $400-500, the ARC is still damn fine kit.
