Arca rail on a Bergara stock.. sideways?

Have a Bergara Extreme Hunter stock on a back up rifle for coyote hunting. Want to put a SMALL arca rail on it for use on a tripod. The stock ("molded synthetic stock is made of glass fiber reinforced polymer") is skeletonized with a rib up the middle so can't mount the rail 'in-line' without wiping out that rib.

Any reason I can't mount the rail sideways (90 degrees) so I can straddle the rib?

you can fill the ribbed area with epoxy and drill them.

side way mount will put pressure on the stock that were not designed to.
