I’m wanting to put an Area 419 12” Arcalock rail on my rifle and wanted to see whether or not a regular Arca clamp will work with it. I have a fatboy tripod with an Arca ball head clamp on it. I have a few other rifles with Arca rails that work with the fat boy clamp so not wanting to change the clamp for just one rail.

Anybody experienced a definitive yes or no when trying to use Arcalock rail with Arca clamp?

Thanks

Arcalock clamps like area 419 have 2 studs inside the plate that will fit into the serrations of the rail to prevent sliding. Only thing you need to watch out especially with cheaper arca swiss plates is there isn’t a specification on rail/plate dimensions. Some manufacturers have teamed up to create and follow a given spec like RRS and area 419.

Aye, I put a cheap ARCA rail on a ruger precision rimfire, it ended up being smaller/narrower than RRS, so it slid back and forth in my ANVIL 30 heads. Pissed me off and taught me to not cheap out.

You’ve been here for 15 years and you don’t know yet not to cheap out? 😂 snipershide is clearly buy once cry once.

Right?! It was for a silly rimfire. Tried to not go nuts on it, my bad. Tried to load up the bipod, slid all the way down the freaking rail. RRS universal rail purchased before I even left the range.
