Delta, looking forward to your reviews as well. I had/have my eyes on the medium range unit Gen 2. Does Armasight know you are doing a review? I just worry that they might cherry pick one. I am really concerned about the RTZ...
They do know. I would hope that they would not cherry pick as I asked them not too. The Hide is the only forum I am on, and my reputation is important to me, so I made it clear that if I found out I was reviewing something that was better than that which fellow members were receiving, it would be my last review. My contact there said they expect nothing less, and if I glorify products in order to keep getting test gear, it would also be my last. That is a step in the right direction to me, and they do seem like honest, innovative guys. I only actually own the one unit from them that I purchased, and it surpassed my expectations.
Before a mod smacks my pecker for Promoting gear of a non vendor, i spoke with Low Light and received his blessing since I'm not promoting, just reviewing. As I did with the Armasight Spark review, I will include pro's and con's. I will also be reviewing som night vision related gear I own from other manufacturers.
If there is a product anyone here wants to see a review on, let me know and imwill see what I can do. While not as experienced as some here, most of the really knowledgeable NV guys on the sight are selling NV. I am not, by any means, saying they are anything but truthful, and I firmly believe they are stand up guys. However, I have nothing to sell, and gain nothing, no matter what route members take when making a purpose.
I am a 100% disabled vet, and a professional stay at home dad. Due to a spinal injury, (thanks to an IED) I am awake a lot of the night, so this opportunity is great for me. My experience with NV comes from being a sniper in the 82nd with a year and a half spend in Sadr city in 07 and 08, where more soldiers were killed in firefights than all other years of both wars combined up to that time. With this experience, and time spent with 2/75 ranger bat, I have experience with several thermals, pvs-7, pvs-14, ANVIS-9, PVS-15, PVS-22, pvs-24, and pvs-27. I have also spent time at range 37 playing with stuff I could have only dreamed about. I'm not horn tooting, as I am low speed compared to a lot of our nations warriors, and have a fraction of the experience as some of the vendors and warriors on this sight, I just wanted you guys tomknow where I'm coming from in regards to this. My reviews are not gospel, just my take on the gear I'm testing, and I'm very thankfulmthat I have had the opportunity to do so, as the military doesn't showmanything worth watching at 2:00 AM.
